How many of you live in disaster prone areas? The answer..All of you!
If you think we are safe from anything ever happening than you are either mis-informed or just so complaisant to the everyday world. How many people say, 'that can never happen to me?' I know I have said this more than once in my life. Well let me teach you a few things that can help save a life and very easy to remember.

What is the Rule of 3?
3 minutes without Air
3 hours without shelter
3 days without water
3 weeks without food
If you can remember this than you have a better chance to survive than that person that does not know it. Let me break it down for you simply.

3 minutes without air. If you can hold your breath this long your amazing. After a minute Im ready to blow up. But think of someone drowning. If they are submerged for more than 3 minutes there is good chance they have drowned. You can still try to save them after this by using CPR, just make sure you don't drown yourself. Practice holding your breath and timing you and your friends. 81850ec3bfe5b4fea88b_Sl_orig.png

3 hours without shelter
Yes you probably can stretch this but believe me. If you are lost in the woods and it's raining, snowing or just dark and cold. Your going to wish you made a shelter of some sorts to stay dry and warm. There are many creative ways to do this. The simplest suggestion for this article is 'Find shelter'. This can be an abononed building, a cave, a hole in the ground (watch out for live animals first), heck you can cut a hole in a horse and live in it till the storm passes. Remember Luke and the tauntaun?6027869592_5911201635_b.jpg

3 days without water
We are mostly made of water, well except for some they are full of sh%#. But we need clean water to survive. Most stand still bodies of water are full of viruses and bacteria. You want it from a constant running source like a river or stream. Still this needs to be filtered or purified. Some ways to do this is boiling it, letting it sit in the sun (UV), stones sand and charcoal make a natural filter. Learn different filter methods. And keep some handy water filters that you can buy at your local stores. I will go into details in another article. But never, never drink water just because it looks clear. A virus will have you spraying valuable liquids out of both ends of your body.BgSQjEUCEAAmLkD.jpg

3 weeks without food
You ever gone a day without eating? Yeah it sucks imagine a few days or weeks. Luckily if you have air, shelter and water, you can live longer without food. This gives you time to plan your next hunt or where to scavenge. Your food must be from a reliable source or know where it's been. It doesn't help if you eat poisonous mushrooms and die from it. Also storing meat properly from a moose or deer in summer is just as valuable as catching it. Learn to smoke or make a cold storage. I will explain this later. Plus lots of ways to catch animals or places to find food all around you. Best advice, keep a good supply of food on hand and know your surrounding, market stores, farms, area of high wild game; remember if you leave home you are vulnerable. Ever watch the movie Alive? Look it up. Ya, you better not have to resort to this, but if you do bring extra salt.

So that's it for now. Write down the rule of 3 and make sure you think of how to achieve each rule.
