Survival for kids in Cold climate
I’m not only out alone taking photos of nature.
With me I try to take my kids out to learn a thing or two.
The biggest threat in Norway during winter time, is obviously to be cold. The kids are not born with the knowledge of handling cold climate, or survival in woods during winter. So your job as parent is to try and implement this knowledge at the same time try and convince your kids that this is Moore important than IPad gaming and TV!
By the way, I’m talking really basics here...and my kids are 2,3, and 5 years..
So learning to dress properly, this is a good start:
Look at the enthusiasm. This is FUN!!
1:Wool suit legs/body/socks
2: Fleeze body/wind proof trouser
3: gloves/wind jacket/functional head gear to cover ears
4: warm boots
In cold climate, Two degree drop in core temperature will result in a temperature drop of about eight degrees in the fingers and feet
When most kids start freezing they just start to cry, and stand there doing nothing. So learning them the basics, that they have to move when they get cold is important. I tell them When you sit down, your body produces little warmth, like a light bulb. But If you move, your body also begins to produce heat like an engine.
learn them the basics of kindle wood and fire building. It’s fun! It’s life saving knowledge! Let them do their own fire building.
After some playing in the snow, things get wet!
Instead of going home.... learn them how to dry your own clothes on a stick! It’s fun also, look, I can prove it:
See how happy he is drying his wet foot ;)
Good luck!
Lovely
Thanx :)

Thanks For Sharing! I am Kona Your Friend
Thanks for dropping by Kona
I wish I had come across this during the fall. It is great.
Also fun and Quality time with yourself, you get to chop some wood, and for the kid. Win-win situation. Try it! :)
Awesome to see you showing your kids all that! Seems like you are all having a great time too!
Thanx for dropping by. Yeah, even though it can be unpleasant for kids, you just have to make fun stuff out of serious stuff, right?
