Wild edibles in my yard 🍃
I was walking the dog this morning and I have started looking closer at things that I would not normally pay any attention to. When I looked down I noticed some purslane.
A couple of weeks ago I wouldn't have known what this was but thanks to @papa-pepper and steem-pocalypse I am now noticing things I wouldn't have ever noticed. Most people don't pay attention to these things. I never paid much attention to wild plants and edibles, but after looking around I am amazed at how many edible plants and berries are growing wild near my house.
I am going to start a series of posts about various wild edibles that I find in my own neighborhood. Please do not eat ANY plants or berries unless you can positively identify them. It could kill you. 
Purslane is pretty easy to identify. It is a succulent. It's leaves grow like petals on a flower and are staggered like in the pictures. Beware of plants that may look similar such as creeping spurge. Spurge usually has much smaller leaves and the leaves are positioned beside each other instead of like petals on a flower. Spurge looks like the vines on super MARIO bros. and it stays very low to the ground. If in doubt DO NOT EAT it.

STOPPurslane is yummy! Also don't eat it if it is too close to a busy road (~50ft) or if it might be a high traffic dog urine area.
