Love Surfing?! Where to surf in the UK?#3 - Newquay + photos
Surfing in the UK??? Impossible! Nooo. Just have to go down South-West, for the best waves or to Wales, and of course, you can get some in Ireland and Scotland, but those are far away from me.
Newquay is located in North-Cornwall, and maybe the best, most known surf paradise in England. I was there first time 5 years ago and always going back to this beautiful place. Newquay's famous Fistral Beach has some of the best surf spots and the well-known monster wave, the Cribbar.
And I just remind you! The sufing season is just approaching! In October-November I will go there probably weekly, so if you want to join, let me know!
It is said that the first Newquay surfer used a reshaped old wardrobe door, it's a nice story but has never really been proven. However, what we do know is that by the time of the invention of the more practical foam and fiberglass surfboards in the 1960’s it had really caught on in the UK and not that long after the US and Australia. The surf is always weather and tide dependent but there is one spectacular wave, the Cribbar, that challenges the best of surfers and really has to been seen to be believed for the UK coast.
