But I am not too comfortable with your opinion that the US would ve respected not because of positive impact on other nations , but becuse pf their capacity to be MALEVOLENT to others.

Well I think there are some countries out there that respect the USA because of goodwill and charity. The United States does a lot of charity contributions around the world. At the same time though, many countries have been subjected to military occupation by US bases worldwide and I find it very hypocritical that if any country were to install a military base close to the United States the US government would have a BIG problem with this but yet the USA does it all over the world.
I am American but I would really like to see us stop being the defacto police of the world. We've proven over the past 10 years that we can't afford it as well.
My take:: Stability and SUSTAINANCE of any substance or phenomenon is a compound of equal , but OPPOSITE forces , which men dubbed "Evil"
This is why any MOVEMENT without FRICTION is heading to anihilation.
This is why , my Gramd dad said: there is Good in every Evil and vise versa .
