•It has become the most liked video on YouTube with 20 Million likes(With only 2 million dislikes)

•3rd fastest song to reach 200 million

•To reach the 500 million mark it was on 4th spot.

Reasons Behind Its Massive Success
As you guys can see,Despacito has many accomplishments to its name.Now,the question arises that What is it that makes this song so attractive and addictive?Well today lets evaluate some reasons behind its massive success in traditional #Oversimplified Style.

1.The Artists
Well you guys will say that obviously the success of any song depends upon its artists but hear me out because here the things are a bit different:

•The song is originally written by Luis Fonsi and Erika Ender.Luis had not released any new track prior to Despacito.According to him:
"I want to create a fun track that had that Latin feel with a melody that I feel very comfortable singing and that will make people just dance."
The song is the most famous fruit of a lengthy friendship between the two songwriters. One day, Fonsi called Ender and asked if they could meet up for a writing session,next thing she was in Miami. The day they went to the studio, Fonsi woke up with an idea in his head: the first line of the chorus of “Despacito".According to Ender the lyrics was born in late 2015.

•Ender won the 2016 Latin Grammy Award as songwriter.

•Fonsi invited another Latin Spanish singer Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez, known by his stage name Daddy Yankee to give an "Urban Injection" to the original lyrics.He like Luis was from Puerto Rico.Yankee after hearing the demo of the original song agreed to collaborate with him. Fonsi and Daddy Yankee had worked together on "Una Oportunidad", released digitally in 2010.After Yankee gave his touch to the lyrics,they recorded!

•Ender and Fonsi finished the song with just guitar and voice, going through at least five arrangements before they found the sound they wanted. Then Fonsi decided “Despacito” needed another collaborative element,So, Daddy Yankee, added the pasito a pasito element of the chorus.The song was recorded in Miami in 2016.

So,all the people that were working on Despacito were acquaintances and they were very famous and highly respected in their fields.This pointed proved to be beneficial for the success of the song.

As we all know that YouTube is a well established platform.And to be frank its influence is very strong.Luis and Yankee were famous Spanish singers and they already had a good amount of subscribers and appreciatives(But now luis's officials channels growth has skyrocketed with 12 Million Subscribers).In the words of Luis himself:

"Breaking the record for most viewed video of all time on YouTube is truly incredible, not only for me but for Latin music and our culture. Working with a platform like YouTube has allowed our song to reach audiences all over the world, something that just a decade ago was nearly impossible."

Without YouTube the song would have not reached so many people in such a little time.So,Thumbs up for YouTube.

3.The timely entrance of Justin Bieber
As I have stated that immediately after its release,Despacito was a huge success.It had become the most viewed video in 14 countries but after 1 billion mark the magic of the song started to fade.Seeing this,Universal Studio quickly made some moves.JB seeing the popularity of the song jumped-in to make a remix.Luis expressed his utmost happiness when he was asked for the permission for the remake.

Luis himself admits that his song could not have accomplished so much without the help of JB.Bieber not only sang the English part of the remake but also sang some lines in Spanish,Which according to luis was not a small feat.

The timely entrance of JB was a life saver.He had a massive fan base,So featuring him in the remake was a remarkable idea.When his followers saw the remake,they highly appreciated it.They also became interested in the original track.So, in this way the remake gave many views to the original track.

4.Miss Universe,Zuleyka Rivera
Zuleyka Rivera is the beautiful and elegant lady in the song video of the original Despacito.She was the Miss Universe of 2006.And she is also form Puerto Rico.She also won the title of Miss Puerto Rico in 2006.She is a famous actress, TV Host, dancer, model and beauty queen.Her presence gave the music video a huge popularity boost in the area.Her charm and glamour captivated the hearts of many viewers.

5.The Puerto Rican Fan Base and Latin Roots
All the key artists of the song are Puerto Cans.
Luis Fonsi,Daddy Yankee and Zuleyka Rivera are all from Puerto Rico and all of them had a huge fan base.Luis himself stayed loyal to Puerto Rico and depicted the streets,living style,children and bars of Puerto Rico.

Fonsi stated that he made "Despacito" a danceable song because "Latinos are known for being happy people." The music video, shows both artists performing the song in La Perla neighborhood of Old San Juan, Puerto Rico and the local bar La Factoría.

6.Reggaeton
The word means a form of dance music of Puerto Rican origin, characterized by a fusion of Latin rhythms, dancehall, and hip-hop or rap.
Luis Fonsi himself said that:
"it does have a reggaeton energy and an subtle urban beat".

When he and Daddy Yankee after recording the video heard it,they were surprised and luis said that it was "powerful, fresh and different".
Luis wanted to make a lively song with a great beat that everyone can dance on.And he successed at that.

7.Peer Pressure
People after hearing this incredible song recommend it to their friends.There were a lot of memes about it on Facebook and alot of people were talking about the song.The Billboard was writing continuously about Despacito .The main stream media featured it.The people were continuously talking about its massive success.The song had a great beat so people could to it.It remained trending on YouTube.So, even the people who are not interested in music had to check what all of this commotion was about.This in-turn gave the Song further push.
