Thought of the Day: March 26, 2018 - Expectations
Every day you face expectations. Some expectations come from you, while other expectations are from people you know, work with or are closing deals with.
Your job, spouse, boss, parents, friends, family and even your pets are expecting something from you. They need you to perform your best so they can also benefit in the relationship.
When you are responsible for, and to people, you must find a balance. The truth is, you are foremost responsible to your potential before the you can focus your attention to others.
When you have a higher believe in yourself, you expect to be the best at what you do. This results in you getting the results you hope to achieve at work, at home and in your hobbies.
You hear stories of people who spend years working for a company. They expect the company to take care of them upon retirement. Then one day, a few months before their retirement day, they are let go.
Have you noticed this? If you have, you must look out for yourself.
The problem I see is too many of us focus on pleasing others. We believe if we cater to the exceptions of others, somehow things will work for us. Seldom do they.
I believe the opposite is true. When you cater to the expectations of others you lose focus on your purpose, who you are and what you hope to accomplish.
What will you focus on?
