Geological Structures of Kyaukse Area

The general strike of the metamorphic rocks of the kyauk Se hil is ENE-WSW,with dips(mostly 20-30)generally towarNNW.The general strike at the Minwun Hill is slightly different, being almost E-W,with dips(mostly 20-30)toward the north.As noted above,the rock sequence appears to be overturned.
A hight-angle thrust fault is present along the eastern side of the shwethalayaung Hill.Here,the gneisses of the shwethalayaung Hill are thrusted eastward upon the schists of the Webu Hill.A minor fault is present just west of pawdawmu pagoda in the eastern part.

                             Economic Aspects
 The white marbles exposed at the eastern end of the kyaukse Hill have been quarried for users as road metals.They can also be used as decorative stones.Compact greenish-grey cac-siticates are also being quarried near Ngazu and Patta village (situated just southeast of kyaukse )for use as building stones.
