About Pot marigold :

Scientific or General names:

The general name of this flower is Pot marigold and the scientific name is Calendula officinalis. They may called as Scotch marigold,ruddles or may be common marigold.

Description:

Calendula officinalis are short lived aromatic herbaceous perennial, growing to 80 cm tall, with sparsely branched lax or erect stems. The leaves are oblong-lanceolate, 5-17 cm long, hairy on both sides, and with margins entire or occasionally waved or weakly toothed.

Cultivation:

They are found mostly in Sunny locations . They do their growth in best condition if the soil are of sunny locations. Seeds can be germinate in the semi-sunny soil,but they do their best in the fully sunny soil.

Uses:

• They can be used as herbs and in some temporary medical treatment.
• Can be used in dyes and fabrics.

Meaning of Name:

•Pain
•Grief

Wit & Wisdom:

These flowers are used in ancient Greek,Middle Eastern and Indian cultures as herbals. They found easily in many areas and parks. They are mostly used for decoration purposes because of their attraction in their colour.
