Hey guys and gals! It's me! A typical but special university student.
So, yeah...
I'm 19, have always been into science and tech (at least that's what my family says). And I'm studying chemistry with molecular physics!
Being the tech nerd I am, I have always been into unorthodox/creative ideas like cryptocurrencies. And of course, the maths behind it! (I'm a wannabe scientist right?). I remember when I first discovered bitcoin (in like 2009) there was this game which gave them out depending on how long you've been playing (if anyone remembers that let me know!) But being me I completely forgot that my account existed until waking up one morning and finding out that it reached $1000 on the news. After silently crying inside. I went to school and thought "Wow, it's amazing how maths and society integrate to make people happy". And from then on, I took the path of becoming a chemist/physicist! (there was also the standard breaking bad wannabe drug dealing fantasy but that's another story).
Let's get personal...
So, I'm 19 years old. From northern England. And (although I don't like it to take over my life) am in a wheelchair. I game, watch a load of movies and sometimes like to simply hang out with some friends.
Hate small talk. Love to discuss deep problems such as global warming and have a rather altruistic view of the world. Quite often, I have crazy scientific ideas which usually turn out to either have been done before or to be impossible/impractical. For example, when doing resonance in school and we watched that video of the tacoma bridge. I thought why don't we resonate cancer cells? (Turns out it's been tried before and won't really work).
My condition...
So, since this is a rather large part of my life, I thought it would be important to include in a post like this...
I've got a condition called spinal muscular atrophy type II. It is basically a recessive genetic condition in chromosome 5 in which I am unable to produce the SMN1 protein which enables motor neurone survival. Basically the part of my brain which controls my muscles is dying faster than it is being repaired/replaced. So I'm super weak and since my muscles don't get used, they wear out (atrophy).
This condition is usually inherited however in my case, it was a mutation (lucky me) as neither of my parents were carriers/affected.
So, essentially this affects every part of daily life but I don't want this to get depressing so let's move on...
The verdict
So that's pretty much me! (My God I've said so too many times). Anyway can't type much more cause my arms are getting tired. Would post a pic. Can't hold a camera. Oh well.
What about you guys? What are you up to in life?
