Totally agreed. I have done giveaways in the past and am still doing them however when i started doing giveaways i got little to no engagement and i decided to know what people on steem like to be gifted after knowing i have adjusted my giveaways to the trend and have been getting a steady amount of engagement so i think the key to engagement is to go with the trend or you can make your own trend 👍

Yes it some amount of investments are required to keep a follower base strong for example you have 10000 sp and you upvote people who emgage with you if other minnows and planktons see this they will come to get a share of the upvotes and most of the time will leave valueable comments
