Summer is the season we always look forward. We can think of the fun that we can do, the different beaches that we need to visit and other exciting adventures that we can experience. Since it is summer here in the Philippines, here in our place, this is how we officially open the Summer of 2018. I am going to share with you now the fun and exciting moments that we had a few days ago.😊

The Preparation

As early as 5 am, the organizers were required to report for the last minute of checking in each of their respective assignments. It was a bit raining but the drive of the event pushed everyone's adrenaline to make sure everything was all set.

The personnel in charge made sure that the water supply was enough for the entire event that lasted for two to three hours. The water consumers in the town were properly informed few weeks before the event about the water usage on that day, that might cause an interruption in the household. Luckily, they were being considerate for the event to succeed.

The security personnel was also alerted their men in case of any trouble that would arise. The Police department made sure that all their men were properly designated in the different needed posted areas. There were also some of them who joined the crowd to assure the safety of the people as they follow the route and arrive at the finish line.

The organizer made sure that a souvenir can be take home after the event. So a photo booth was set up, for the crowd to have a photo of themselves and take home the printed copy with them. The photo booth was also equipped with different props where they can be used to add more liveliness to their photo. As we can see in the photo, @jamiz(the owner) was busy installing his set up.

A party is not complete without that loud music, that would make the celebration more fun. We got the best sound system in the place and I would tell you, it was really fantastic. With the upgraded system they have in their set up, the excellent choice of music in their playlist and with an exceptional DJ, it was awesome. It was just a perfect choice for a very lively celebration.

Other things such as the color powder and foam machines were already prepared. I must say that as early as 5:30 am, we were all ready and we just waited for the crowd to bump in.

The Registration

At 5:30 am, the registration of the participants was started. Amazingly, they came at that early and looks everyone was so excited. After they finished the registration, they immediately went to the area near the stage and waited.

Since it was still early, some were still yawning or closed their eyes while standing. Some of them were busy having a selfie already while others spent their time just chatting which each other.

Participants were not just adults because I saw a lot of kids who were busy playing while waiting for the event to start. The most amazing fact about them was even at that very early time of the day, their energy was already there. Almost all of them were running and dancing already, that made me enjoyed watching and observing them.

I cannot say that the crowd was mostly teenagers or young adults because I saw an old man who was busy having a selfie in one corner. I guess there were variations in all ages who participated, for the sake of enjoyment.

The Program

The event was officially started at 6 am. There were some few speeches on the stage by the local officials and also welcome the visitors from the neighboring towns. The venue was slowly filled with the people and all of the sudden, congestion was already observed. The people were slowly getting out their energy and already absorb the fun that would definitely rise in a few minutes.

After that, it was time to stretch the muscles. Dance instructors already took the stage and got ready to start the Zumba. The beat of the music slowly felt until it burst with energy. First, they did a slow moving motion and progressed into more quick moves. The choice of the music varied from the 90's and onwards.

The crowd really participated and enjoyed the music while dancing. It lasted for 30 minutes, enough to warm-up the people for the walk after.

The Walk

After warming up with Zumba, it was time to start the walking. A local band from the town led the group, followed by the local officials, then the crowd. Despite that, it was very early, I was amazed by the number of participants who joined. I cannot point the exact numbers but the last time I threw a glance at the registration sheet, it was at number 1309. Wow! That was a huge number.

Laughter and giggling were everywhere, as they were passing in the first station of a huge water spray, being sprinkled and enough for them to get wet. In a few distances, they were showered with color powders. There were four stations that were set up, so it means, they still need to pass through three more stations. Though some were having a difficulty with the powder, I could still see their smiling faces as they walked along the route.

They did not mind the cold even they were wet already, they just enjoy every second of it. Some still managed to do a high jump pose when they noticed a camera.

The Party

After an hour of walking, the first few people arrived back in the starting line and gathered in front of the stage, while waiting for others. At that time, you would notice that everyone was soaking wet with a colorful appearance. I could hardly identify some of my folks because of the color powder in their faces.

When all the people arrived already, the crowd started to get alive. Yells and cheerings are everywhere, while the hosts made the energy of the crowd more impact. Different games were conducted with very exciting prices, while the music made it more lively. After the warm-up, it was time already for the go signal that people were crazy about, the YEARLY THROWING OF COLOUR POWDER! Yes! We were all excited for the countdown!

BOOM!

The crowd was wilder this time while going with the beat of the music. Some were being thrown in the air, others do the dancing while sitting on the shoulder, while others just merely dancing, taking a selfie and shouting for fun. That was really exciting to see where you can feel every inch of happiness in your nerve.

After the throwing of the powder, the crowd was surprised when the foam machine started to sprinkle. Because it was the first time that organizers included it in that event. The ambiance at that time was getting wilder and wilder and good thing that the two hosts were able to handle that such energy from the crowd.

There were a lot of surprises as the program went on, while the crowd was getting their energy at the highest level. The ground turned into a colorful field, with full of excitement and waves of laughter. The event finished before 9 am with a loud bang of the Daylight Fireworks.

It was really an amazing event where everyone came to experience a different way to enjoy. We can observe thru the photos that the people gathered for one purpose and that is to have fun. Everyone participated while no one was sitting and watched the crowd. As I asked one of the old women who joined the celebration about her purpose of coming, she told me that "I need to enjoy the colorful morning and forget about worrying things in the house." It was quite a meaningful statement and I agree with what she said.

There are times that we need to get out and free our mind from the stressors. Because when our system recovers from those things, we are again recharging our batteries to face the battle in our daily lives. Just like the vibrant colors of the powder being used that day, we need to appreciate and love the things that make our life interesting.
