Street views in Ghent
Hi,
Ghent is a city in Belgium with a historic downtown.
There city is located at the estuary of 2 rivers: the Leie and Schelde.
Here are a couple of photos from the city centre.
These houses are on Kraanlei. The house in the left is called '7 works of mercy', but only 6 are on the building.
On the right the house is called the 'flutist' and dates from 1669.
This photo shows the river Leie in the centre:
The next photo is taken on 'Kleine Vismarkt' with a view on the 'Gravensteen' castle. The name means 'castle of the counts'. Although the oldest foundations are from before 1000bc, the current castle was built in 1180 by count Philip of Alsace.
I love those buildings! They have so much detail..
These stylish old houses don't compare anymore with the modern concrete buildings without any style
