Lisbon Streetphotography - Small figures big backdrops. (What's the name again?)
Small Figure - Large Backdrop photography
One of my favourite style of photography is choosing a large background. (Normally a building with some geometric shapes) and waiting for or finding a small figure against the backdrop.
Photo-trap.
This kind of photography can be done in what is called a "phototrap". That means that you need to find a nice backdrop (colourful and geometric shapes can help.) Personally I also like small windows and doors, but I guess it depends on your subject. It's then a case of waiting for your subject to wander into the scene and you can then get a cool photograph.
Or, alternatively you can just wander around and spot an opportunity.
Geometric shapes and isolation.
The shapes draw the eye in, only to be broken by the character in the photograph.
Usually a sense of isolation and also contemplation is achieved. It also shows how unimnportant we actaully are as humans, and how we are dominated by our environment.
What's the name again?
I guess that there is a correct name for this style of photography, as a subset of street photography.
Anyone who knows, or can make up a fitting name please suggest a name below, I'd be very grateful.
Less Geometric.
I have ordered the photographs in this post from more geometric (smaller figures as well) through to less geometric (larger figures)
I hope you enjoyed these photographs, they were taken after Steemfest, I was certainly in need of a break from the partying and this was a perfect chance to wander around Lisbon.
