Rings of Power episode 7. I fell asleep

I'm thinking that series is just irreparably broken and there is no chance that I am ever going to like it. In episode 6 and 7 of The Rings of Power the various groups start coming together as I knew they were always going to but even though this is obviously the big crescendo of the first season that will lead up to something big happening, it was still friggin boring. So much so that I actually fell asleep while it was happening.

Now I don't remember this guy's name or even most of what his backstory is and the reason why I don't remember or know these things is because this series is just so poorly put together that I didn't feel compelled to really pay attention to it. His character is pretty cool and has so much potential because he is a "dark elf" of sorts that is a Bane-like character in that even though what he is doing is meant to be evil to the audience, his reasoning for why he is doing it is rooted in doing some good or at least what he believes is good.

Of course since he is on the "wrong" side all of his plans get thwarted by our heroes and heroines that we have spent hours learning about up to this point. I don't know exactly what happens to him or his horde of orcs but I really hope that we haven't seen the last of him seeing as how he is one of the only decent characters in the entire show.

I'm really getting sick of these two and their position of being completely dominant reminds me of how Princess Leia in the recent Star Wars films and how they just pull powers out of their ass anytime the situation calls for it. It isn't fun when characters don't have an Achilles' heel and even though this series is just starting, the fact that they are in God Mode at all times isn't fun or interesting, it is just stupid.

During one of the two episodes the human character that the elf woman just happened upon in the middle of the ocean declares himself King of the humans that they rescue and immediately everyone recognizes him even though they have never seen the guy before. Leave it to Amazon to throw this really silly twist into the mix.

The battle is meant to be epic but once again I found myself quite disappointed with the effects both CGI and practical effects and once again they completely overuse the "weightless wire" effects that became popularized in the western world with The Matrix films.

By the time the battle is over and Mount Doom comes into play for the first time, we are meant to be dazzled and on the edge of our seats as the season nears its end but my reaction was one of "oh just get it over with already." I fell asleep shortly thereafter and honestly, I don't even think I will go back to see what I missed because I don't really care. Mostly I am just excited for the season to be over so I don't have to watch it anymore.

I was talking to someone yesterday who told me they were a fan of Game of Thrones and they haven't yet watched House of the Dragon. First I was excited for them because those are both wonderful series and I feel as though "House" is doing a great job of following in the footsteps of GOT and even salvaging the name after the last season was such a massive letdown for fans.

I ended up telling this guy to just skip The Rings of Power even if he is a fan of the Tolkien universe because I feel as though he, and most other fans, are just going to become angry at what Amazon has done with our memories of greatness that were solidified by the initial films. I guess that it is Amazon's right to do that seeing as how they paid something crazy like $450 million for the rights. I just can't really understand what their inclination would possibly be to keep this going. It seems like most people don't really enjoy the series and it is monumentally expensive to produce. I for one wouldn't be at all disappointed if they were to announce that they are not going to make any more of them but then again, Bezos and Co. have plenty of money in the bank, so they maybe don't really care if they lose money.

If you are one of the few people out there that are actually defending this series as being good I am genuinely curious as to how it is possible that anyone could have that opinion... so please, do speak up if you are in that category.
