WEEK #1: Strawberry Mage-Boy for #strawberryart Mini Art Contest
Hey everyone! I stumbled across a cool art contest (Easy Mini Art Contest #1 - let's draw strawberries) that I really wanted to participate in! I hope my entry was finished in time! For week #1, I'm sharing my strawberry mage-boy, inspired by the mage class in fantasy MMO RPG's!
Below are more pictures of my work in progress:
1.) Here I've used pen and paper to loosely sketch my idea for the character's design. For whatever reason, I feel more comfortable with the natural feel of friction on paper.
2.) Next, I scan the pen drawing and begin creating the line-art using the original as a guide.
Here, you can see the early stages of drawing the head.
3.) Now I have clean line-art to color! I darken the background to relax my eyes while I work.
4.) Next, I lay down the "flat" or "base" colors.
5.) Then I add the shadow with small bits of highlights.
6.) It's not noticeable when not compared side-by-side but here I add glowing highlights on the head, chest, and other areas.

I am so glad you joined! The character design looks great! You should really utilize all 5 tags though. Could get you around in more circles. Maybe try #steem-cartoon and #ocd-resteem? ;D
