The Boy Who Couldn't

in #story7 years ago (edited)

Once upon a time, in a little village downriver, there was a boy who wanted to swim up to the Valley of the Gods. Everyone in the village laughed at his idea and told him that it was impossible. This boy was very special you see, he could not talk, he walks funny, moves funny, and all the villagers thought that he would not amount to anything

When his father and mother learned of his plans, they agreed to help him without hesitation. His father asked the gods to turn him into a carp, so they can ride on his back, and together, they braved the strong upstream currents of the mighty river.

The river did everything it could to break their spirits, doing its best to slow them down, but they were determined to reach the top, they did not falter, they did not give up.

Day and night they swam, until they came across a giant whirlpool, the current was so strong that all their efforts swimming seemed futile.

It was then that the mother asked the gods to turn her into a lotus to cushion the flow of the whirlpool so that her family could swim past.

With the help of the flower, they were able to go past the whirlpool and swim upstream, but the strength of the carp was drained from the struggle, and he was now unable to accompany his son.

He told the boy that the time has come for him to swim on his own.

The gods saw the determination of the boy and they turned him into a mighty carp, much stronger than his father, he swam upstream with ease, the currents, powerless to the flick of his tail, he reached the top in no time.

The gods, realizing the perseverance and determination of the boy, then turned him into a dragon, a creature of strength and power.

His parents' efforts did not go in vain, there they were in the Valley of their Gods, waiting for their son, beaming with pride with what he has accomplished, all the hardships that they went trough was all worth it.

Good to see those tattoos have sentimental meanings before it was inked. Truly all sacrifices pay off if you will not give up! Such an inspiration!

I knew that the inks meant something, I just didn't imagine that they were all connected. Great way to tell a story and to show off your inks at the same time!

My first ones were the koi in the triceps and the dragon that spans the chest and back, it was supposed to be me, swimming upstream to become a dragon. Zepp has changed that :) I'm now demoted to the koi in the forearm lol

HAHA! You gave Zepp the bigger distinction haha! As all good fathers do :D

showing your tattoos remind me of the upcoming MATA expo. they have tattoo contest and they need tattoo model..

Haha thanks.

This was really beautiful and really well-written! Deserving of much more. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you, and happy steeming! 💕😊

Thank you very much! Will do :)

This is a very innovative way of telling a story. Using tattoos as inspiration and image.

It is also a story of rising above the limitations set by other people but through the support and perseverance of those that love the child he changed into something no one expected.

I'm so moved.

Thank you. :) my tattoos remind me to just keep on swimming. :)

What a great story! Those tattoos are beautiful, may pinaghuhugutan talaga :D

Hehe thank you po. Yung kabilang side naman sa susunod para sa iba pang istorya :)

Yaaaaay I will be looking foward to that! The adventures of the dragon na ba ang susunod?

haha hopefully. Matagal pa yun siguro haha. madami-dami pang luha.

yaaay aabangan ko yan hahaha

Haha ipon at mahal patattoo lok

I love it.

A very nicely written story. @zeppelin! True, we have to swim through rough waters and strong currents every once in a while. But the support we get from our family and loved ones will surely make it easier.

Ps. Pag may nagtatanong po about your tattoo, do you start telling them, "Once upon a time, in a little village downriver..."? LOL. 😆

Hahahahaha laftrip XD

haha wala pa naman po nagtatanong, natatakot yata kasi mukha akong kontrabida sa pelikula haha

Wow man, a tale well told via the medium of ink!!

Thank you for dropping by, Mr Boom! it is very much appreciated. :) They're there to remind me to never give up. :)
