We all know in Nigeria and Africa at large, it is believed that the everyday upkeep of a home is the sole responsibility of a man and this has made some men to marry late because they needed to fulfil some obligation or reach some certain stage before starting a family. This is commonly seen from men from the Eastern part of Nigeria.
Mr Emeka works as a sales manager and his take home salary monthly is #70,000 and which he gives his wives 30,000 monthly from his salary to run the feeding. She keeps complaining about the money being given to her, which she suppose was too small to run things in the family. She took the complain to her husband office and after the Boss heard her complain, told her to come the next day.
The Boss summoned Mr Emeka to his office where his wife is already seated. The Boss told Mr Emeka that his wife reported him about him spending the remaining of his salary on irrelevant things. Emeka was quiet. The Boss asked him
Boss: How much do you spend on transportation daily?
Emeka: 400 naira
Boss: That is 10,000 naira monthly and asked further, who pays the kids school fees
Wife: He does and both school are 30,000
Boss: And that makes he saves 10,000 monthly for 3 months since it is been paid every 3 months. And that's total of 20,000.
Boss: Emeka, do you eat before leaving the house?
Emeka: No Sir, I leave home by 6am
Boss: How much do you spend for food daily?
Emeka: 500 naira
Boss: that's 12,500. thats makes it a total of 32,500.
How much do you spend on airtime and data, you used plus utility bills monthly.
Emeka: 5,000 on Utility, an average of 5,000 on data and airtime.
Boss: that's 42,500. The Boss turns to the wife, if you deduct it from his salary. You will be left with 27,500 and I am sure he still buys things for the kids when coming back from work. The wife said Yes and the boss continues and that I didn't add to it.
At this point, the wife felt remorseful and realize what the husband has to go through monthly to ensure he provide for his family and might and end up with no personal savings.
These are part of the things men go through to ensure their family is okay, they might go years without buying clothes or shoes because their priority is to see their family happy. Men don't talk about the things they go through before they provide. Men are Hero's
