What I have learnt so far from the Cambridge Analytica big reveal.

This last 3 days we were treated to sensational stories of Cambridge analytica role during the US election and the alleged harvesting and use of people's facebook profiles for use in voter targeting. It sounded new and distressing but companies and political parties have been doing it for years but what made this more striking was the fact that big data was used (even upto "likes" on facebook) to determine voters to target with most not knowing that their data was pulled.

So what I have learnt is so far is that;

1. There is no such thing as user privacy.
2. There is a chance that your choices may just have been directed by someone who may have bought your data.
3. Everyones data is for sale (knowingly or otherwise)
4. We generally opt into "stuff" without knowing what exactly the information is going to be used for.
5. Companies would never spell out in details what your data is going to be used for.

It all matters if we read carefully all agreements before ticking, you may just be selling your soul. Please share your opinions in the comment section below.
