Things you don't know about Ethereum founder, vitalik buterin
I have been doing lots of research recently on blockchains technology and some other major Cryptocurrencies. Their road maps and technical teams; It's purpose and functions. This has led me subscribing to different online Bitcoin magazine and newsletters.
Frankly, there are quite huge information about this emerging technology which I understand will definitely take a while before I can fully comprehend them.
At the course of my research, I was intrigued when I find out that the mastermind behind ethereum “Bitcoin rival” is just a young man of 23years old.
He is also the co founder of Bitcoin magazine.
I found his story very interesting and decided to share it on this Post.
vitalik buterin, was born in Russia on the 31st day of January 1994. but later moved to Canada in 2000, where he attended school.
He was a game lover who played World of Warcraft during 2007-2010. according to him There was a day, Blizzard removed the damage component from his beloved warlock's Siphon Life spell.
This experience made him wept bitterly. and from that day it became clear to him what horrors centralized services can bring. And he decided to quit immediately.
In 2011, while he was searching for a new purpose in life, he found out about Bitcoin. but At first, according to him was very skeptical, and did not fully comprehend how it could possibly have value without solid backing. But as time goes on his interest was rekindled.
At that period he started writing for a blog called Bitcoin Weekly initially at a mild wage of $1.5 per hour, and it was not long enough before he cofounded Bitcoin Magazine with Mihai Alisie.
At the late of that same 2011, he participated in a high school programming competition where the participants program the code for a team of simulated robots that then fight each other.
He took the third position at the competition. Someone asked him: what strategy does you use?
Others gave command-and-control strategies such as "I went for the center". He simply replied;
I gave each agent a utility function and let them independently act to maximize their own objectives".
That period has helped shaped my political beliefs even for years to come". He stated.
In the year 2012, he enrolled at the University of Waterloo; during 2013 it became clear to him that crypto projects were taking up to 30h/week of his time, so he dropped out.
He went around the world, to explore many crypto projects, and finally realized that they were all too concerned about specific applications and not being sufficiently general - and this is what lead to birth of Ethereum, and has become what he has been working on ever since.
He was also recognized For his work, and was named a 2014 Thiel fellow , a contest that awards winners $100,000 for building something new instead of sitting in a classroom.
His interests include math, algorithms, cryptography, mechanism design, economics, social science, politics.
According to him he derive pleasure in pointing out similarities between governance challenges of "a political" crypto projects and the eternal stupidity that is mainstream geopolitics), rationalist philosophy, and the intersection of it all. Such a great guy.
