The Fault in Our Stars – My Review
One of my favorite books is “The Fault in Our Stars”. It is one of those mesmerizing books that one can’t stop reading. This book has an ability to appeal anyone. It can make you happy with tears. This book is no doubt full of emotional drama. It reflects a very serious matter and the characters Hazel and Gus teach us that any hurdle or problem in life can’t pull us back from whatever we desire, all we need is true determination and optimism towards life.
This novel which tells the story of Hazel Grace, a 16 year old girl who had cancer and Augustus 'Gus' Waters, a 17 year old boy once had a tumor in his leg but was now in remission. The writer has nicely elaborated their love story in which they knew that their story will only end in a heartbreak.
Hazel was diagnosed with cancer when she was 13 years old. She was then forced by her mother to go to a cancer support group to meet others who could understand what she’s going through.
But that group turned out to be more miserable than the time she was passing by, only good thing about it was that it was the place where she met her love, the handsome, Augustus 'Gus' Waters, an amputee who was very optimistic towards life that attracted Hazel. Gus also became immediately attracted to Hazel and the sad part was that they already knew that their love was doomed from the start.
Gus changed her life by giving her positivity, as she states: 'Forever within the numbered of days' and changing her attitude towards life.
In the story both travel to Amsterdam to search for the writer of their favorite book, 'An Imperial Affliction', where their relationship blossomed and they had the most beautiful time of their short lifes. With time, Hazel recovered partially while 'Gus' health deteriorated. Eventually, he left her heart broken.
The tragic ending of this story reminds us of the fact that nothing is permanent and everything has an end. The story captivated millions of hearts and lived up to expectations.
“The Fault in Our Stars” reminds us that the life is uncertain but still we can choose between optimism and darkness. To me, it was overall a positive impact and I literally enjoyed the book.
If you too have read about it, please leave your remarks in comments. Thank you!
