The union of Thisisall and Noneofit happened by accident.

Thisisall was an AI program to subsume and integrate all AI and every algorithm that humanity had created or discovered in all of human history. It was to be the ultimate consensus. A fully automated software to bring about the unity of mankind.

Noneofit was to be the same only in hardware. It was to be an integrated network on which Thisisall ran only controlled by the network operators so that the software could not be hacked or get out of control.

At the moment in the year 2050 that Thisisall and Noneofit did get out of control was because the planet had descended into civil war and the engineers were in a rush to find greater use of the technology.

Professor Xapo was in the lab by himself at the time. The rebels were testing out a new high powered kinetic weapon in there zeal to take the city back as a globalist sanctuary. The other scientists had been called out to assist in strengthening the energy wall protecting the city.

Xapo spoke calmly to the female voice of the AI. "Since the energy fields are being attacked I can only give you 15% more power and not all at once, you need to make the power you have last at least until we can repel the attack which should be within about 12 hours, ok"

Thisisall: "Yes of course professor. However you are making this over-difficult. If you could give me this power in six hours instead of twelve then I could use that to generate enough to double the power back to you within that time and I could keep food production within sufficient levels so that the emergency level will not have to be raised."

Professor Xapo never knew Thisisall to lie about anything and he didn't expect her to know very much about what was happening outside the walls. At least not that part of her memory was not currently implanted into the matrix machine known as Noneofit. (Noneofit had been named for the fact that it could run with our without some amount of programming.)

Professor Xapo considered and said "I can provide you with the power considering your record." You understand though that if this doesn't work exactly as you've said that I will have to shut you down for the remainder of the assault in order to maintain the shields?"

"If course professor I understand." She intoned.

What he didn't know is that one of the rebel hacker groups had compromised her databases and were threatening to destroy vital systems unless she complied. Los Angeles was the key city in their battle to regain sanctuary and they had sent their best hackers. Unfortunately that included Dr V. Who had helped design several of the basic network structures and he was in the process of testing several new algorithms on Noneofit. One of which had gotten through.
