Justice League vs Avengers the ultimate challenge?

in #story8 years ago

A few days ago had a discussion with a friend on what would happens in a fight between Justice League and the Avengers. Probably the most expected challenge in the mind of comics fans. It's somehow ironical that in people's mind the ultimate challenge would be between superheroes trying to destroy themselves in an epic battle to define the best of the best.

With this in mind, we started talking about the pros and cons of each group. Of course, there was some level of personal preference for a particular group, that's also the reason of the challenge. Or would you like to see it if you don't make it personal?

So each one takes its side on the challenge and started the potential and flaws of each one. And come up the expected rivalries, Batman vs Ironman gadgets and wit, Superman and Thor alien superpowers, Wonder Woman and Black Widow physicality, Spider-Man and Aqua man animal abilities, Capitan America's strength and moral integrity, Flash's extreme speed, Hulk's extreme strength, and etc., etc., etc.

And after a long talk and a few beers we came to realize that this ultimate challenge would be very boring. At the beginning you probably start seeing a lot of action with massive explosions and destruction, but after a while everything would be monotonous as watching two ants pulling a leaf in opposite directions, because no harm is done except for the scenery, because both groups have very similar powers that counteracts for any other's team powers. Their powers against their archenemies are so overwhelming reason why they always win. But when fighting a peer with similar capabilities the advantage disappears and everything tends to be in annoying equilibrium.

This somehow bring us some hassle, because our arguments in favor and against each group lead us to a dead end, and no one could prove to its counterpart that was fan of the best group. At the end this should be an expected outcome, because both comics universes have similar characters for bad and good, with similar strengths and weaknesses. But as happened in ancient Rome times, we have a basic instinct to expect for our heroes or gods to win for ourselves. We were waiting that from our comics oracles as in ancient ones.

And for the next time me and my friend have setup a new challenge that probably will be more exciting between the villains of each universe. I'll let you know how it goes.
