Wavesphere Novela: Waters of Transition

in #story5 years ago

I would say that I'm the in chick, but that would be a lie. The truth is I don't really know what the truth is. When I look in the mirror. All I see is a short wannabe adult with bad teeth, freckles, and wild brown hair. I can't make this a normal thing all year. I have to get Luke to notice me somehow.

The in teens all have the best everything. I can't even seem to snag a friend from their circle, but I have a trick this time. I stole my mom's credit card and got all the best clothes this year. Sure, mom is definitely going to ground me for life when she finds out next month, but it will all be worth it. I am just so exhausted from staying up all night on the phone.

I heard shouting from downstairs. Dad's voice came booming through my door. "You got to get up Sara. It's time for school. You got to get up and out, now! Got your homework done?" Dad asked. "Yeah Dad, of course!" I shouted. The pile of untouched homework sat on the floor by my bed.

I yawned and stuffed all my things in my bag. My mind raced as I checked the room for missing papers. The wind somehow popped the window open. I looked out at the eerie old forest that happened to be right next to our house. Mom told me never to play there, but something about it always draws me in. I rubbed my eyes and shut the windows.

Mom dropped me off right outside the school. "Is that new clothes?" Mom asked. "Nana gave me some some as a gift," I replied. She rolled her eyes, but didn't say anything else about it. I kissed her on the check and rushed quickly to class.

At lunch all the popular kids were sitting with Luke again. I tried my best not to notice, and walk by without saying anything. The most popular girl was staring at me. "Hold up. You're wearing that? I guess you got some taste after all. Shame about the face though," She said. All of the girls started laughing.

Luke started getting up. "Hey, you shouldn't talk about her like that. I think she looks pretty cool like that," Luke said. He smiled at me and tried really hard not to let it get to me. "Whatever," the popular girl replied.

Luke gestured to a table for the two of us. "So how could you afford that? It's not your typical wear," He asked. "Oh, well mom won in the stock market. We're practically rich now, " I replied. "Oh. Guess i'm just bothering you then. It's cool though," He said. Luke waved and went back to the popular kids table again.

I tried my best to hold it together all day and after classes. Tears streamed my face as I stepped out of the car, but I didn't let mom see. I ran into the forest this time. I already know nothing in my room can save me. At least in the woods I can fade into oblivion.

The branches kept tugging and ripping at my shoulders. I need to find something to clean the blood off. A strange beautiful woman stood far off deep in the forest. "H-hello? Who are you?" I asked. She smiled and gestured to the pond behind her.

I hesitated, but somehow didn't feel in danger by her. She spoke as if every word was laced with sugar. "You seek fame and fortune. You seek beauty. All can be found in the deepest waters," She said.

I shook my head and shivered. "How is that possible? I have nothing to give," I replied. She smiled and gestured to the water again. "All you have to give is your trust and in return your truth. Yet, our desires aren't always what we think they are," She said.

I looked at the water again. "What do I do?" I asked. She splashed the water and then wandered off. I turned around, but she was gone. I went to the edge of the pond.

My feet shivered at the touch of the icy water. I slowly wadded my way to the center of the pond. It wasn't as deep as it looked. My arms shimmered as if crystals were dancing on my skin. I felt better and the cuts stopped bleeding, but that was it. I sighed and headed back to the house.

I opened the door and Dad was waiting right behind it. "Where have you been!? You know we have a curfew in this house!" He shouted. " Sorry Dad. I went to the forest," I replied. Huh? What was I thinking? I'm definitely grounded for life for sure. "You know your not to play there. Get to bed, now!" He shouted.

I sighed and dragged myself up the steps. That was really weird. I thought there was definitely going to be some life in peril with that. He almost seemed like he was on my side for once. I dropped down on my bed and immediately passed out.

I woke up and forced myself to get ready. Mom shouted from downstairs. "Honey, want some breakfast?" she asked. "No thanks. I rather serve your food to a dog," I replied. What in the world am I saying!? "What!?" Mom asked. "You know, I love you," I replied. "Get ready for school," Mom said.

we left for school. Mom kept looking me up in down suspiciously. "Is that another new outfit?" She asked. "Orange is my color don't you think?" I asked. She smiled and gave a slight nod. "Well I guess it does go well on you, but I don't know what's wrong with your old clothes," She replied.

At lunch the popular kids were sitting once again with Luke. The most popular girl couldn't let me get by with a new look. "Did you gain weight?" She asked. "Actually no, but you might have," I replied. Everyone in the lunch room stopped talking and all eyes were on me.

The popular girl stood up to face me. "What did you say to me?" She asked. "That you lost it long ago. Yeah, you heard me. I haven't seen a new look from you in years," I replied. The other popular girls started laughing, and she stormed off.

The other girls and Luke were all grinning. "Have a seat with us," one of the girls said. I sat with them and tried not to show that it was the happiest moment of my life. "So another from the fortune?" Luke asked. "No actually. I stole my mom's credit card to get it," I replied. Luke and the girls lit up and asked me all about it.

After classes Luke asked me out on a date. Dad picked me up and dropped me off at the house. If I knew the truth would make things so great in my life. I would have started with that long ago.I can't wait for my date with Luke.

Mom sat across from the table with Nana. Dad gestured for me to sit. "Where did you get the clothes young lady?" Mom asked. I covered my mouth, but the truth couldn't hide any longer. "I stole your credit card and bought it all to the limit," I replied.

Tears filled everyone's eyes. Dad gestured to me. "Why didn't you just tell us the truth? Mom was terrified someone stole her identity. You know we only want to provide the best for you," Dad said. Mom grabbed my hand. "You know we only want to provide the best for you," Mom said.

My eyes started to swell up as well. "I know Mom and Dad. I'm sorry for using you as an excuse Nana. I don't know what I was thinking. I guess for once I wanted to have friends and everyone to like me," I replied.

We cried a little together and talked it out. I never expected my family to be so understanding. All this time my lies have been hurting them for nothing. I drifted off to sleep and had the strangest dream. The beautiful woman from the pond was gesturing for me to look into the mirror.

I awoke and yawned. "That was a nice dream," I said. I can lie again! I stretched and sauntered over to the mirror. What the!?

I was much taller with no freckles, perfect teeth, and long flawless brown hair. I couldn't wait until the popular girls see me now. There is no way people are not going to be demanding for my attention. I raced downstairs. "Boy, your food looks good," I said. Dad gave me a strange look and continued to try to chew the eggs.

Mom drove me to school. She looked at my clothes and back to my face. "You finally had your growth spurt. This time we will buy you some new clothes you actually like," Mom said. I grinned and kissed her cheek.

At lunch I headed straight to the popular table. They were all grinning and waving at me except Luke. "Were did you get clothes, girl? I have to start coordinating my outfits with you," a popular girl said. Luke got up and gestured to me. I got up and followed him.

Luke eyed me over slightly. I felt like something is very off. "Who is this?" He asked. "What? It's me. The same girl you always see in the halls," I replied.

Luke sighed and pulled away. "This isn't you. You aren't the same cute girl who tried to be everyone's friend. Now, you're just a wannabe," He said. "What do you know!? You are always hanging out with the popular kids," I shouted. "Yet i'm still here with you whether you look like you or this," he replied.

He started to walk away. I grabbed his arm. "Wait!" I shouted. "You don't need to be perfect or his the best people around you. You just have to trust yourself and be honest," He replied.

I didn't really need to be popular and the looks didn't help at all either. Truth with my parents was all I really needed. That was all Luke really wanted. I just need to be honest with myself before I can have any real friends or a relationship. That is something I guess everyone has to work at.
