The discovery of a thrilling 10kg Gold

in #story7 years ago

A piece of gold weighing 10.7 kilograms (kg) eventually got a decent spot and became part of a display at the Australian Museum. In the past, the gold chunk is estimated at Rp 37 billion it had abandoned or used as a tool of cricket game.
Quoted by the Australian Broadcasting Company (ABC), the chunk of gold was discovered in 1887 at the Maitland Bar in Meroo Creek and is thought to be one of the purest golden boulders ever dug.
The value is estimated at up to Rp 37 billion, but New South Wales Minister Mike Baird said that the precious metal had become an abandoned object.
A few years ago the state government was looking for a place to store the lump after the Treasury was trusted to guard it. "Then somebody decided to keep it in the box," Baird said.

The problem is, they forgot to tell people about the contents of the box, so the box was once used for cricket games in the office hall."
Employees continued to use the box as part of a casual cricket game in the office without knowing its contents until one day they were curious and opened it up by finding the chunk of gold.
The Minister explained that the chunk was the size of a loaf of bread, with a gold content of about 9 kilograms.
The chunk was purchased by the NSW Department of Mines in 1887, coinciding with the golden jubilee of Queen Victoria. Since then, the object has been treated by the local state government as a memory of gold rush in the 19th century in Australia
