2 Corinthians 12:15
"And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I be loved."

One of the characteristics of a rubber band is that it can be stretched to a particular length until it breaks. But may looking at it, you could see its length until a force is applied.

So the rubber band will never break until it goes beyond its capacity.

Now lets apply this to business and work ethics.

We can do so much that we are not even aware of even as employees of an organization or business owners.

I remember a particular company I worked for and I was at the back office. There was this particular guy who was in charge of replacement and warranty and he was reporting directly to the Manager who happened to be a Lebanese man. Any time I see the guy at his table working, he would once in a while be taking paracetamol. One day I asked him, guy why do you always take paracetamol. He would reply, my brother, I feel headache.

One day it was time for the guy to go on leave and his job was handed over to me to carry on. Guess what happened. When i started I found myself using paracetamol.

One actually happened. I discovered that the job the guy was doing was more tedious than mine and as I was doing his job combined with my own, the capacity of my brain was expanding and I was feeling the pain. After some time, i got used to the job and i stopped using paracetamol."

For instance if your job is to type letter, you might think that that is the only thing you can do. And may be llater you are told to do something else outside what you are used to, the first thing that will come to your mind will be, "I cannot do it".
Do you know that the moment you accept to it, you brain will begin to look for ways to get the job done.

I remember a time pastor said there were going to do a business directory for KRP and we were just discussing on who to give the task to and I told him about some people in church that can do that and he said okay . He asked if I could do it, I said I am not an IT person that we have them in church. He said if you can do it professionally I will pay you. He said how much do you want to collect. I said pastor I am not collecting anything. Something I have not done before in my life. I said okay i will try. He gave a deadly when it should be ready.

Do you know that we collated the data of members and their profession. I had to start researching on softwares. And I used Microsoft publisher to design the cover page.

And later pastor gave to someone to design another one to compare and pastor said mine was even better than that of the professional.

The rubber band principle can work effective in your career if:

• You understand that whatever you are doing is unto GOD and not man...

Colossians 3:22-25 The Message (MSG)
22-25 Servants, do what you’re told by your earthly masters. And don’t just do the minimum that will get you by. Do your best. Work from the heart for your real Master, for God, confident that you’ll get paid in full when you come into your inheritance. Keep in mind always that the ultimate Master you’re serving is Christ. The sullen servant who does shoddy work will be held responsible. Being a follower of Jesus doesn’t cover up bad work.

Of course when you have the mind set that whatever you are doing is unto GOD you will put in your best.

• You can do all things through CHRIST that strengthens you

Philippians 4:13
"I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."

• Another very important point the rubber band principle can be effective in your career is when you OWN THE BUSINESS.

Luke 16:12
"And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man's, who shall give you that which is your own?"

JESUS CHRIST performed exceptionally well in his ministry or career because HE owned HIS FATHER'S business...

Luke 2:49
"And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?"*

Because HE owned the business, HE could think like HIS FATHER... And also equip HIMSELF with the desires skills and knowledge...

Luke 2:46
"And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions."

When you own the company or business, you see yourself beginning to think like the real owners. You begin to think like a CEO, MD... You begin to think of how to carry the company forward and GOD will be revealing ideas to you until one day, the company will be looking for a solution to a particular problem they have tried to solve but could not. Then may be first the first time in the history of that company they involved all the staff to contribute, and the CEO, MDs have nothing to say.. and you open your mouth to speak and they say that is the answer we have been looking for... and then you are enthroned to your desired throne... Hallelujah.

John 2:17
"And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up."

• Even when you have put in your best in your organization and it's as if it's not appreciated, don't worry you have sown a good seed already and it will surely germinate.
