Some thoughts about the behavioral theory of personality /part 2/
They existed before Thorndek and were noted in associative psychology. But Thorndek carries the accent, associative connections within the nervous system between the organism's environment connections. Thorndic imposes a new kind of determinism - biopsychic determinism, which creates the fourth law - the effect - the effect of a certain act of motivation in an act, success is included among the reasons for building the movement itself. The first three laws on natural selection are:
The law of exercise - in other equal conditions, the reaction to the situation is linked to the situation itself in proportion to the purity of repetitions, connections and their strength; 2. Prepare Act - Exercises change the body's readiness to conduct nervous impulses; 3.Associative Jump Act - when stimuli are triggered simultaneously, if one causes a reaction, the other stimuli acquire the ability to cause the same reactions. It is the effect that helps the body under similar conditions to realize adaptive behavior. Behaviorists highly value Pavlov's theory, but the option itself by constructing conditional reflexes, for behaviourists to prove that the subject of psychology should be behavior. John Watson / 1878-1958 / - develops the Beheioryan paradigm - categorically declares psychology as a science of adaptive behavior to the world we live in. Behavior is the sole subject of Watson's psychology, it is possible for objective observation.
Watson rejects introspection and comes to the conclusion that specific elements of consciousness can not be directly studied. For Watson, behavior is made up of muscle and secretory responses determined by external stimuli. Emphasizes that behavioral analysis must be strictly objective and limited, as in other sciences, only to external surveillance. Watson says that all psychological notions should be translated into Beheiorian language with the stimulus reaction formula (S-R). In 1914 he published the book "Introduction to Comparative Psychology" where he presented his attempt to translate into Beheiorian language. The book became popular in scientific circles. In 1915, Watson was elected president of the American Psychological Association at the age of 37. The behavior of Pavlov and Bechterev has a strong influence on the behavioral views of Behaviorists, although Watson and his followers are moving away from the physiological mechanism of behavior.
The main characteristic of behaviorism is antiphysiology and denies the role of psychological image in behavioral regulation. Watson entered the Air Force during the First World War, and after his fired, he began to study the emotional state - experiments with humans. The behavior of all living beings obeys the same laws. For Watson, emotion is an internal subjective state that has an inner expression.
the behavior is a representation of the person and their environment. Excellent post
True :) I am not a big fan of behavior but there are some aspects in this theory that are useful to learn.
I agree. The behavior huemano is very complicated
