The Square Colosseum
The Palace of Italian Civilization, better known as the Square Colosseum, is the most representative building of Italian fascist architecture. It has 54 arches per facade whose shape reminds of the Roman Colosseum. It was built in Rome by the architect Giovanni Guerrini, commissioned directly by Benito Mussolini for the Universal Exhibition in Rome, an urban and commercial complex located to the south-west of the Italian capital. The building was inaugurated on November 30, 1940. It is currently used as an exhibition hall and museum, as it was in the original project.
