INFIDELITY

Mrs Joy was cleaning her 13 year old daughter's room one morning after she had left for school and stumbled upon her diary. She decided to flip through it and wondered what little secrets her daughter kept inside her diary. For some reasons she was reluctant to do that because it felt like she was invading little faith’s privacy. Her daughter has become a little bit more quiet than usual and most times spends more time alone in her room. This was the only way she could find out what her thoughts were because she no longer spoke to her like she usually does.

"Dear mom",
“Everyday you come out looking gorgeous after you have done your make up that I wish I could grow up looking as pretty as you are but the make ups only conceal the bruises you got on your face. It doesnt hide the pain in your eyes. I want to ask you a question but because I cant look you in the face I choose to avoid you. I choose to look happy because only then would I manage to see a smile on your face. I hope one day I get the courage to ask you this question”.

Mrs joy couldnt stop the tears rolling down her cheeks as she read the letter she had found in her daughter’s diary. She didnt know despite all her effort to hide the pain and hurt inflicted on her by her husband, her daughter knew it all. She had faith out of wedlock and she was forced into an early marriage but that didnt stop her from been faithful to her husband but shortly after her marriage to phillip things went sour. Phillip blamed her for all his misfortunes and labeled Faith a cursed child. He went about sleeping with women and each time she confronted him he would beat her till she fainted. Faith had experienced it and this began to have psychologocal effects on faith that her teachers in school complained that her marks had dropped and she had problem concentrating.
Faith got back from school that evening and while she was eating she slowly placed the diary before her daughter.

“Faith my child”...she said.
I know you have a question for mummy because i read your letter and am willing to answer your questions. Faith was shocked that her mom found dairy that she stood up and ran to the room. Mrs joy followed suit and met faith sobbing on the bed.

”My baby girl”...she called out.
Faith raised her head and said to her mom.

"Mom?...Why Do you not fight back when Daddy beats you"?.
"Is that the sacrifice we have to pay for love"?.
"Do i have to stay quiet and hope that one day he would change"?.

Mrs Joy was stunned by the question that it was phillips yelling at the door that brought back her attention as she hurriedly went to open the door. Out of anger that she kept him waiting phillip hit her as she fell to the ground and hit her head against the wall. Mrs joy died leaving her daughter with unanswered questions about infidelities.
