in #story7 years ago

Today on our daily blog post, we are taking a little break from those little and complex situations that make us feel perplexed, weak & insecure.

Why Lessons from the animal kingdom?

We are not learning from the human species which is the higher class in the animal kingdom according to science. I know we may wonder why, but it might interest us that there are lots of lessons we can inculcate from these inconspicuous species we see all around us.

In the course if this blog post, we are going to take a look at 4 animals from the animal kingdom.

  • Snail
  • Stallion
  • Camel
  • Ant
The Snail

Digressing a little bit - The snail is a common name for shelled gastropods. They hail from the family of molluscs. They are naturally known to be slow, even slower than the tortoise, hence, they are regarded as the slowest land animal found on earth. But this is not the bone of contention. This animal is known for its slow and steady racing ability. Snails are by far one of the most determined land animals. Wherever they spread their tentacles, they are most determined to overcome any form of disruption/obstruction(s) on their way. At times, they climb woods, hilly lands, rough paths just to make sure they reach their place of desire.

The Stallion

A stallion is a male horse that has not been castrated. Stallions are of different breed and according to research, because they are herd animals, they may be prone to aggressive behavior, particularly toward other stallions. Thus, they require careful management by knowledgeable handlers.
But then, stallions are effective equine athletes at the highest levels of many disciplines, including horse racing, horse shows, and international Olympic competitions.

Despite the aggressive nature of this animal, it still maintains one unique character which is the highest level of discipline.

Relating this particular point to our beloved country Nigeria, the hard hustle and bustles and aggressive nature of its citizens is not difficult to come by. The stallion however maintains high level of discipline from its trainer despite its aggressiveness, hence its usefulness in major events.

The question now is: "despite the rigorous & consistent trainings by our parents (trainers), do we maintain the highest level of discipline as expected of us?

The camel is known for its 3 tiers hunch back,
they are suited to their desert habitats—are a vital means of transport for passengers and cargo.

Despite the ugliness of the camel (hunch back), its the only animal that can survive the desert terrain making it a very useful tool for man & his means if survival. The camel never gets ashamed of its look, it basks in the euphoria of its ugliness and helps the homo-sapien being in carrying out its rigorous activities.

  • Did people tag you as "ugly"?
  • Do you feel depressed by your looks?

Ants

Ants belong to the insect world. They are easily identified by their elbowed antennae and the distinctive node-like structure that forms their slender waists. Hence, they are the tinniest crawling animal living on earth. But one special thing about the ants is they work cooperatively. Ants may use months to build up an ant hill, they don't make excuses, they don't relent, they work tirelessly all day, all night until they achieve their goals in togetherness.

I have always seen articles and videos of ants and how they work together, if only everyone can be like them, this world will be a better place.

We can really learn from animals. We can learn on how they survive and face every obstacle. Ants is one of my favorite animals I think because they work together and survive together. You rarely see them lurking around as an individual rather they are in group looking for food. As human and animal also we should learn to cooperate and learn to leave with others as well. Let's work with harmony.

There's just so much to learn from these animals. Even the Bible teaches us wisdom, using these animals for illustrations, sometimes.
