THE EDGE (An Original Poem)
This lonely road unfolds you,
quells the guilt that scolds you
and dulls the fear that holds you
in the place you stand today
then the veil is slowly lifted,
and wicked lies are sifted
once muddled thoughts seem gifted
what is there left to find?
once precious ties are severed true
an epiphany, you forever knew
you no longer worry what you'd do...if
the moment's come and gone
so beautiful, this existence
when pure truth spans the distance
a call that makes Maya wince
rings out from heart to mind
until now you’ve failed to see
that you're everything you need to be
won't you close your eyes
and walk with me out to the very edge.
Well put
Thank you!
I sense you put forth a lot of feelings in your poems. The more I read them, the more I look forward to the next one you write. The picture with this one puts that extra touch in the ending part. Have you thought of making a book with your poems? I know I would be one interested enough to buy one. Who doesn't love/like a great poem?
I appreciate that, @pixiehunter. This is one of my earlier pieces, written in the early 90's. I try to incapsulate my feelings into each one. Each poem has a special meaning to me and when I re-read them it's like reliving the exact moment in my life I was going through when I originally wrote them. They're like time capsules for me.
I partner with a local artist to produce handmade poetry chapbooks a couple times per year. We currently have copies of two different chapbooks in stock. I do a limited print run of around 100 for each one, each is numbered and autographed, and they'll never be reprinted in that format. If you're interested please email me at - [email protected] and I"ll send you details.
Also, if you sign up for my author newsletter at - http://www.ericvancewalton.net you'll be on a mailing list to be notified of future book launches. If you click the "poetry" page of my site you can see what the chapbooks look like. Thank you!
That is awesome and thank you so much for the links. I understand the feeling that reading a previous written poem can bring. That is also why I wish I had kept every poem I had written. I only have one that I wrote as an adolescent. Poems are a good way to express feeling, good or bad.
Wow, certainly thought provoking. Two thumbs up!
Thank you!
This is such a lovely poem. Anymore to post?
Thank you, I appreciate your kind words @cire81! I have a backlog of about 22 years worth of material. Probably over 500 poems.

Really nice. I love poetry, and a poet is a character in my novel Galloglass. Where was the photo taken?
Thank you! This was taken at the South rim of the Grand Canyon in the US.
Beautifully!
Thank you!
Lovely.
Thanks, @lukeofkondor!
