ALONE/LONELY (An Original Poem)
This poem explores the very same situation, time alone, as seen through the lens of two entirely different moods or mindsets. I hope you enjoy tonight's poem!
Alone
Under a lapis sky parted
by the buoyant shades of gray
that are flowing so breezily
through my thoughts
at the shore of a peaceful serenity
finally, a brief chance to turn it off
my head, this life, the world
a chance to be selfish with time
and befriend imagination again
there’s not a soul
within the confines
of these five senses
but the pantomime of trees,
swaying freely in the breeze
being colored by the hand
of the ultimate chiaroscurist.
Lonely
Here I am lonely,
just an anonymous spectator
of this world of ours
I’ve given this prosaic
slate of sky a long hard look
but it seems as impenetrable
as the faceless crowd that
passes before me, unbroken
here I stand, still,
in the middle of the path
of least resistance
there is no consolation,
only empty time
that pierces me
like a slow bullet.

Had to look up "chiaroscurist," which makes a great image of its own, once you know what it means. :)
I love that word, @geke. I like the way it rolls off the tongue.
Enjoyed. In "Lonely," I wonder if you meant "word" or "world" in L3, S1? Probably doesn't matter, works either way.
Thank you @beginningtoend! That should have been "world". I appreciate it!
Loving both your fiction and poetry, but this poem is so evocative.
Thank you, this one was written as I was emerging from a bout of depression in my early twenties. The juxtaposition of perspectives between my "depressed" and "not depressed" self made me realize how the same event could be viewed so differently.
For me alone time begins quite golden. I long for it often. But the older I get the more quickly it converts to loneliness.
That's how I am too. As an introvert and a creative person I need small blocks of quiet time to create but then after this I feel that my batteries are recharged and I'm ready to mingle "out there" in the world.
Ahhh.., the luxury of being alone. And the quiet despair of being lonely... This is what came to me as a read these inspired words. Both just as beautiful.
Thank you, @macksby! For me alone time is good in small doses.
Beautiful.
Thank you!
Good stuff, I'm definitely going to follow. I always love a good read.
