I think things like GoFundMe are just new features of society, which is always evolving. It may not be around in 10 years, but something similar, I think, was bound to happen because this is how society has changed in the context of new technology. It's one step beyond Peer to Peer Lending- for those who can't afford a loan but basically need debt forgiven (which may be future debt for those raising funds to buy new things). And of course there are a lot of abusers, just like there are lots of credit and welfare abusers. I think the platform is bound to evolve, or, like I said, it may not be around in 10 years.
