Why No War On Instant Noodles?

in #story6 years ago (edited)

Who knew that instant noodles were so dangerous?

Authorities have yet to declare a war on instant noodles in the interest of keeping children safe.

Thousands of children are sent to the emergency room every single year because of burns that result from eating in instant noodles.

Clearly, noodles pose a danger that prompts thousands of children to seek medical care for the burns that they endure. A recent study from Emory University estimates that more than 9,500 kids between 4 and 12 yrs old are seeking medical attention every year because of the burns that they suffer after eating their noodles.

The instant noodle process is so dangerous, that 1 in 5 are at risk of being burned from their instant cup of noodle soup.

I'll admit, I have consumed plenty of noodles over the years and I didn't have any idea they were so dangerous. Why rely on education to prevent these injuries, why haven't authorities resorted yet to force and violence via the state to try and put a stop to the danger being posed by noodles? Take the noodles off the shelves! That will prevent the burns won't it? Save the children! Thousands of yearly victims, you'd think that they'd have justified such a ban by now.

Where is the concern for safety???

Burns from noodle soup reportedly cause the victim to endure a much longer hospital stay than burns from other types of soup, because noodles stay hotter for a longer period of time.

The "cooling curve" on noodles is slower than for other soups, and in comes the risk of children being burned.

Aside from the danger posed with cooking noodles, they also serve little purpose as they offer arguably no nutritional value. One man who tried to eat nothing but instant noodles for 30 days reported that he had found the experience to be less than ideal after it left him feeling lethargic and sick, suffering headaches and mood-swings. One nutritionist from Indonesia, D. R. Annur, maintains that instant noodles, like all processed foods, can trigger cancer cells and that this has fueled many concerns; prompting people to allege that eating noodles might cause cancer.

Launching a war against noodles though, would require infringing upon the natural rights of people, their personal choice to consume, make, or trade noodles etc.

Sure, there might be danger involved with eating instant noodles, but that is your risk to take.

If we were to take away noodles from the shelves and start ticketing, arresting, and locking-up noodle consumers, then those actions would erode individual liberty which in-turn poses a risk to everyone. You don't keep someone safe by violating their natural rights, even if you could keep thousands of children potentially safe from being burned. The concern for potential danger isn't a reasonable justification enough to limit freedom, because you only set the environment for perpetual violations to liberty to be made in the name of 'keeping you safe'.

I find myself actually shaking my head here, because even though this is clearly satire, it's so damn close to realistically possible that I found myself doing a couple of double takes...

"Caution! Liquid in container may be hot!"

stock up while you still can 😂

I agree OUT with the noodles! I have been rallying anyone who will listen to fight the war on noodles. The hidden dangers in consuming hot things is often overlooked.

While we're at it, let's ban water. Enough ppl die from scaling, drowning, slipping on ice and other associated accidents to warrant a law. I'm sure there's a scientist that could be bought to prove the case.

Hehe, it's just like us human to blame the symptoms of a bigger issue like lack of equation on innocent things like noodles.

I enjoyed this read, thanks.

If we used dehydrated water, we wouldn't have that problem....

HANDS OFF MY RAMEN LOL!

Ha ha. Once I tried eating only white bread for 30 days straight to see what would happen. I got lethargic with headaches and didn't take a sh*t until breaking bread fast with a glass of prune juice. Next month I'll be burning my mouth and upper GI track with boiled dumplings.

Wow, you have the best posts. I knew there was no nutritional value, but my goodness, sending children to the hospital. Unreal! Thanks for sharing, as always.

If they Intended for real safety, then they should took noodles off the shelves. but why not?

Whilst the satire is great, there's another reason for banning noodles that is perfectly legit. Most contain palm oil which are from palm plantations in Asia which are basically wiping out the orangutans by destroying nature habitat. I love instant noodles but have stopped buying them for this reason.

And, they aren't even good for you.

Now that's what I call citizen journalism. Nothing nebulous or overly philosophical, something everyone can action. We need more of it if our species is to have any chance of survival. Such great work. Also I feel that they lead to a dependency on BigNoodle undermining our own personal noodles so to speak. That is another interesting dimension of the problem.

There are a multitude of reasons there should probably actually be a war on instant noodles.

I respect anyone's right to poison themselves, but c'mon...
