A poor man's love
Hey people, this is my fourth story here on steemit. This story was told to me by a guy who use to sell tea on his Moving Tea Shop. In Nepal some people buy a cart and attach the stoves and gas to sell tea on from it. So, here’s the story he told me.
He was born in a small village where nothing much happened, had with bad education and he couldn’t go to school as his family was poor. When he grew up he decided to move to the Capital city of Nepal due to lack of job opportunities in village.
He came to Kathmandu with a very little money and had no connections there as well. He couldn’t find a job for months and he was living like homeless. Yet he never begged for money because, he believed in himself and felt ashamed to beg for money. He spent his days searching for a job and spent his nights on the cold footpath with a hungry stomach for days.
Finally, he found with a very less paying yet hard working required job. He became a potter, he had to carry a lot of heavy stuffs and move it from one place to another. But, he didn’t complain and took the job and worked hard daily. He was saving small amounts of money because he wanted to start a small business on his own.
He was doing well with his job but one day while he was walking home he saw a girl from his village. She was none other than his childhood friend as well as his crush. He was so happy to see her and he approached her. She was really happy to see him as well he took her to a tea shop nearby and they talked and talked. In the middle of the busy city he found his paradise.
They began to meet every day after he was done with his work. He found out that she wanted to become a doctor and she came to give an exam to get scholarship. He was very happy for her. He believed in her and supported her.
She stopped meeting him for a few weeks because she had to study for her exams. They meet after two weeks, she was really sad and quite the whole time. She said she was not able to secure the scholarship and it was given to some rich man’s daughter because they had good connections. And she had no money to attend a paid class.
The next day, he went to the school and met the principal. He requested them to take her in and said he will pay her fees every month. He used all his savings to pay her admission fee and one year’s advanced fee. But, he told them not to tell her that he was paying for it otherwise she wouldn’t accept it. Instead tell her that she was selected for the scholarship program. The school agreed and did as he told.
When he met her the next day she was so happy. The first thing she did when she saw him was, give him a big hug and asked him to guess what happened. He acted as if he had no clue and she told him that she was selected for the scholarship program. He was so happy to see her happy.
After few months she joined the school and they weren’t able to meet a lot. She was busy with her studies and her practical classes. He was working hard and saving money and paying her fees. He missed her a lot but still he was happy for her. They were meeting once a while and she use to tell him all the stories and make fun of her teachers and tell about her friends. He couldn’t experience it for himself but he was very happy for her.
After two years, the college decided to give her scholarship from then on and informed him he no longer had to pay for her. But at this point they were barely meeting and she was very busy. He continued his work and saved money for his business. After 5 years he saved enough money to buy him a Cart, stove, gas and cups. He quit his job and he started his own moving tea shop.
Since, his tea was very good and he was very polite and friendly towards his customers his business was running good. And she was a doctor, a reputed one. She had a good job, good house and good friends.
He said sometimes he wanted to tell her the truth and tell her how much he loved her. But, then he was worried about her. He was poor and uneducated where she had a good, well education and had a good job. He thought a garbage like him and an angel like her will never be a good match.
He told me that he often takes his moving tea shop outside her hospital just to see a glimpse of her. And wishing may be someday she will come by to his shop to drink some tea. He sees her sometimes, sometimes he doesn’t.
He is a very nice person and happy person. He told me this story while I was smoking and having my tea. He was smiling all the time when he told the story. I felt sad for him and wanted to ask him if he regrets not telling her the truth. But I didn’t have the heart nor the right to ask him.
