The great and unsurpassed Lorenzo de' Medici ( continuation of his story )

With all intricate painting, Lorenzo collapses when he is 20 years old. His sick father runs very briefly because the lack of political talent makes him an easy target for the intrigues of his opponents. The Temple of the Medici begins to suddenly lose its influence and its allies. Inside Florence (formally a Republic), the family still has enough friends in the Synergy (something like an analogue of parliament and government at the same time). But very quickly there have been times in which the Medici must fight to preserve their influence. Taking advantage of the death of Piero, the Nardi military commander invaded Florence. Lorenzo is acting to him - Nardi suffers defeat and perishes. Besides his ugly appearance, Lorenzo inherited from his mother the sharp mind. The wonderful education he receives and his inborn determination are crucial. He managed to multiply the finances of the Medici bank. With bribery and intrigue, Lorenzo wins friends and soon becomes an informal, unofficial ruler in Florence. He is supported by his mother and his younger brother, Juliano. Lorenzo married his father Piero. His marriage, of course, is a form of dynastic union. His wife is a Clary of another authoritarian family - Orsini. The choice was made by Lorenzo's mother. But Clarice Orsini is not the closest person to Lorenzo. He gave birth to 10 children (two of them in childhood), but neither her husband nor the public in the city accepted it. Clarice is too devout to like Florentines from the Renaissance era. For Lorenzo love affairs are embodied in another woman - Lucretia Donati.

On it he dedicates many verses. The Knights Tournament protects her honor, and during solemn occasions, Lorenzo appears with a wreath of flowers twisted by Lucretia Donati. She calls her a goddess, compares her to the mother of God, but she can not be with her. Lorenzo meets her when she is already married. And he, carrying the Medici family, has no chance of marrying a woman he really loves. By the end, this novel between Lorenzo Medici and Lucretia Donati remains pure Platonic. "This pope is the first to show how much power he possesses and how many deeds ... can hide under the papal authority." This description of Pope IV is yet another well-known mind in Florence - Nichola Machiavelli. Sixt IV became pope in 1471, when in neighboring Florence the Medici family was still busy regaining its influence. More importantly, the pope is from the Rodin River. Like the Pope, he takes advantage of all the opportunities offered by the throne to solve secular issues (first of all for the sake of his own kind). During the tenth year of Lorenzo Medici's rule in his native Florence, another conspiracy, led by another notable family, Patsi, was born. Local merchants, financiers and politicians are involved. Among the conspirators there is even an archbishop and a cardinal. In fact, the pope himself stands behind the plot, and this is known to all. Formally, the conspirators want to "return to the Republic of Florence." And the Pope simply wants to surrender the wealth and power to Florence under the control of his nephew. The plan is feasible only if the family Medici disappears.

For tourists today it is inconceivable to visit Florence and not to send a card, which is the symbol of the city - the cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore. Magnificent and unique with its red dome. It was under this dome on 26 April 1478 that a group of conspirators tried to kill the Lorenzo and Giuliano Medici brothers. The attackers believe that during the prayer in the cathedral, they will be defenseless. The Medici brothers find themselves in a church full of conspirators hiding their daggers under their clothes. Even Cardinal Riario, who is the pope's nephew and must "head" Florence, is among the conspirators. The office runs on canon - the cardinal raises the sacred gifts. The Medici brothers are on their knees. Then the assassins are thrown on them. Juliano dies on the spot. Lorenzo survives for his physical strength and resolve. It starts to resist. It is wounded, and the conspirators of the resistance are surprised and temporarily retreating. Lorenzo took advantage of this brief indecision and hid in the sacristy behind the altar of the temple. The assault on him is failing. His response is not delayed. Using its influence among all the layers of the population in the city, Medici mobilizes its forces. Most of the participants in the conspiracy are captured immediately (they are all known in the city people). They do not even question them - Lorenzo's supporters literally tear some of the captured. Those who are able to hide from the rapids do not expect anything good either.
