This is Twen's first attempt to create art prose that is not so strongly influenced by his personal experiences, and the guilt of his shortcomings is usually attributed to the fact that the author does not know the English society well, but also to the fact that he comes out after a big masterpiece. Writing this novel, Twen begins with "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" (with which he has constant difficulties) and begins and finishes another journey "Fools Abroad", which follows the author during his journey to central and southern Europe.
