Ayrton Senna: A racer who died for the good of others
"Clean ride, real racing, that's what makes me happy!" Ayrton Senna
Not far from Sao Paulo, in Santana, the legendary racer Ayrton Senna was born on 21 March 1960. His desire for motorsport from early age. When he was four years old, his father had set up a go-kart to make his talent better. In twelve years, he decided to move his school to the secondary rail. He preferred what he preferred, it was, of course, racing. As a thirteen year old he had completed his first race, and he had triumphed for the first time a week later.
For four years he became South American champion in karts. He came in 1981, and twenty-one-year-old Ayrton moved with his wife Lilian to England, mainly to join the Van Diemin team, which was part of Formula 1600 series. In the same year, he also managed to win the title.
Lilian, however, did not feel well in Britain, and even trouble with the search for a sponsor forced Ayrton to return to Brazil in October 1981. Van Diemin's owner, Ralph Firman, saw something extraordinary in Senna, and he did not want to give up, he wanted him back in the team. Eventually he managed to convince him and Ayrton could sit again in Firman's monopost.
Firman's satisfaction was all the greater when the Brazilian won 22 out of 26 races and won the British and European title in 1982. This extraordinary success did not pay attention to McLaren's boss Ron Dennis, and at the end of the year, the young man Senna opened the door to the royal motorcycle category for the first time, but the Brazilian refused this tempting offer!
The newcomer season in F1 broke with the Toleman team two years later. He earned respect when at the Monaco Grand Prix in the rain he beat double Austrian world champion Niki Laudu and finished second behind French Alain Prost. For this success he earned the nickname "Master of Rain". After moving to Lotus, he had his first two victories, and his performance continued steeply.
He was able to turn it into his first Monaco Grand Prix title in 1988 when he was under the wings of Ron Denis in McLaren. The Brazilian glory continued with two other titles from 1990 and 1991 when he defeated his biggest rival and teammate Prosta. Honda, however, stopped supplying engines to the British stadium, and Senn's footsteps, mainly due to the big disagreements with Prost and the growing competition of Williams, were headed to the Frank Williams team, where they docked in 1994.
"It will be a season full of accidents ... I will be happy if nothing really happens to me," Senna said before the start of the season in 1994, as if he knew there was something terrible. Moreover, during the pre-season tests, he stated that the FW16 has a speed but is very difficult to operate. It was also due to the new FIA rules, according to which they should not have the "electronic aids" monoposts, which were supposed to push the competitors to the second track. The Williams team was at the same time a pioneer of new mechanisms to improve driving performance and their prohibition caused the vehicle a lot of trouble.
But he came "the Black Weekend" and the Grand Prix San Marino, the third F1 calendar event in 1994. The bad guy tortured Ayrton constantly and could not keep him cold. The event on the circuit in Imola began with a Friday training, in which his compatriot Rubens Barichello had a heavy accident. On the second day of Saturday on qualifying there was another crash, but this time with a much more tragic end. Rakusan Roland Ratzenberger was killed! Senna fought the postion on that day.
In the morning before his fateful ride, Senna chose the other pilots for his spokesman, who, along with the Ayrton reverend, wanted to force the organizers to more safety and prevent further accidents. The Brazilian was determined not to stand up and run away! Ayrton, however, did not "go" with the organizers and eventually joined the race. On Sunday, May 1, 1994, in the seventh round, Tamburello had failed on his Williams right front wheel and hit a wall at a speed of 300km / h.
The wheel of the ripped wheel struck him sharply, causing cranial fractures. Four hours later, at 7:07 pm, Ayrton Senna da Silva last exhaled. In removing the demolished monopost, the bloody Austrian flag was pulled from the cockpit, which Ayrton had prepared for the training of Roland Ratzenberger.
When the Brazilian death forced Formula One bosses to work on greater rider safety. From this tragic accident, a similar sad case in the "ephemeral" did not repeat, until the accident of 5 October 2014. At the great cost of Japan in Suzuka under uncontrollable conditions uncontrollably flew under the crane that Sauber Nemca Adrian Sutil, Jules Bianchi monoposte Marussia. The young French suffered severe brain injuries and after about 9 months of 17 July 2015, the injuries finally subsided.
He is my favorite car racer! R.I.P Ayrton :(
Ayrton Senna - A true legend. Gone but never forgotten.
One of the legends of F1. RIght now F1 is more electronics and downsizing. Back then it was pure driving skills and really good engineering. Hope F1 will go back in good petrol times.
There is a lot of truth, in those times, it was a joy to watch F1, it was a real racing, today it's mostly a political fight.
