It's been almost a year since Catherine finished her primary education, and her father still couldn't save enough money to register her in secondary school, all her mates were already a year ahead of her, Catherine felt helpless, all her father did this days was making her a lookout while he gambles all day if he's not at work, and all night when he gets back from work..

Catherine decided to engage her time in church children debate and quiz activities…And she soared, for the one year, she was winning prizes, from pianos to drum sets…Before long she became popular... Parents used her as a reference for their children…Yet her father barely noticed, if she came or left....

Chinedu knew he needed help with this addiction, but he was too far gone to try and put in any effort to stop… He was losing, and the little he won, he used for the pending debts that never seem to reduce, seeing his daughter at home pricks him bad, but there was nothing he could except believe in some sort of miracle, his salary was already wired to be paid to someone he borrowed money to pay his rent... So to him, he really need to be gambling more, maybe luck will through her smile on him... He turned around to see someone staring at him… He nearly collapsed…!!

Catherine heard her father called out to her, he rarely does, especially when he was gambling and he knew she was fed, he practically just left her alone to be by herself, so she was surprised when she heard him call out to her, she ran as fast as her legs could carry her, and got inside to meet her father, with a lady seated, and Catherine knew it was just an introduction to a new lady friend,, so she looked up at the woman, this lady was so pretty, and she was staring at her strangely, Catherine felt uncomfortable, he father sat quietly, too quiet... Catherine stood as her father finally turned and said.. '' Sweetness, meet your mother ''... Catherine mouth flew open...!!
