The legend story "Sangkuriang"

Once upon a time, in the present West Java Province, there was a woman named Dayang Sumbi who had a son named Sangkuriang. One day Sangkuriang went hunting in the company of a dog named Tumang, but Sangkuriang did not know that the dog was an incarnation of gods and also his father.

While hunting Sangkuriang meets the deer, Sangkuriang recalls that his mother was very happy with the deer. Finally Sangkuriang told his Tumang's dream to pursue the deer, but Tumang loses track of the deer and Sangkuriang becomes angry that Sangkuriang is eager to give the deer's heart to his mother then Sangkuriang kills Tumang to take his heart and then he goes home.

Upon arrival Sangkuriang at his home he gave his heart got from hunting to his mother to be cooked. When eating it Dayang Sumbi remembered Tumang and asked Sangkuriang, Sangkuriang said it was dead "Tumang mati". Dayang Sumbi was not angry and hit Sangkuriang's head with a spoon of rice and drove him out of the house.

After the incident Dayang Sumbi deeply regretted it, he always prayed and very diligent ascetic until one day the gods give grace to Dayang Sumbi is in the form of eternal beauty and never old. Then Sangkuriang wandered to various places, finally Sangkuriang back again to place Dayang Sumbi then both meet.

Sangku cheerfully finally fell to the Dayang Sumbi, he also proposed Dayang Sumbi and Dayang Sumbi received it. While Dayang Sumbi was looking at the scar on Sangkuriang's head and questioned him to Sangkuriang, the kuriang replied "This is a scar from being hit with a spoon of rice by his mother first".

Dayang Sumbi was surprised to hear the statement. He tells Sangkuriang that he is his mother but sangkuriang do not believe and still intend to marry her. Dayang Sumbi submitted a request he requested to make a sailboat in a day should not be more. Sangkuriang acknowledged it and Sangkuriang dammed the Citarum river for its boat. In the making Sangkuriang get help from jin the result of conquest in overseas.

Because the help of the jin boats was almost completed Dayang Sumbi begged God. Dayang Sumbi makes the rooster crows earlier, and finally succeeds the genie who helps sangkuriang flee and leave sangkuriang alone. Because the boat saddened it kicked and fell on the mountain and blend with the mountain and named Mount Tangkupan Perahu, Sangkuriang finally died because it fell into the river Citarum.
