Part 3 - The Escape
Life in captivity is not the ideal scenario for a feline who enjoys wandering around and allowing its instincts to take over. But, the reckless behavior and tumultuous past of this cat repaid it with a trip to the local prison. Although the cat was in the process of accepting that it is going to spend quite a while in that prison cell, the wind outside just gave it an idea. It was rocking one of the bars that were placed to keep it from escaping through the window, which made the cat see that it may have an option after all. At night, when everybody was sleeping, or at least this is what the guards thought, our cat was playing with that slightly look bar, pushing and pulling it with its paw, so it can break loose even more.
How come none of the guards noticed that there was something wrong with the bars? Maybe they didn’t care too much or considered that the prison was in pristine shape. Well, for our cat, this doesn’t matter. If no one noticed so far, it had to make sure that things remain this way, so that its escape plan won’t go to waste if anyone noticed that the bar was breaking loose. So, the cat plucked a bob of hair from its tail and stuck it in the space that was slowly forming around the loose bar, to keep it from rocking in an obvious manner, until at night when it would continue its work on it. The cat knew it must have patience for this, because rushing things could mean a disaster, so it was keeping itself going through each day by visualizing its future free days. Once more, our cat was going to be able to climb trees, run through grass, and roam careless at night on the streets of its beloved neighborhood.
After countless days of patient work and perseverance, the cat managed to move the bar so much that it was finally ready to be taken off its place. It gently removed the bar and placed it on the floor, taking advantage of the night’s darkness to worm its way out of the prison. It wasn’t an easy task at all. Guards were patrolling outside, there was light all over trying to see if anyone wanted to escape, and there was a tall fence between the cat and its much-desired freedom. The cat took a deep breath and started to advance slowly, one step at a time, getting closer to the final fence. When no one was looking and the lights was away from the cat, it made a long jump on top of the tall fence. It ended up injuring one of its feet on the barb wire, but that didn’t keep it from moving forward and getting as far as possible from the prison.
Exhausted, dirty, and injured, the cat found a hollow up in a tree, in a nearby forest, where it decided to hide through the night and get some well deserved rest. In the morning, it was going to figure out what to do next, because the prison’s guards may certainly be looking for it.
