HOW A GAME DESTROYED A MEMORABLE NIGHT

in #story6 years ago (edited)

It wasn’t the regular Zuma or Candy crush I play on my desktop, Peter’s party would have been the best if we had played PES, I guess that’s a bit boring for a birthday party. Hence, we resulted to playing truth or dare.

The game is explainable enough, you obviously don’t need a game pad or any device to play. It’s either you say the truth or you do what you are dared to do. Failure to do this results to a penalty, you either pay a huge sum of money or take a glass of alcohol that could ruin you. Trust me, facing those penalties would be the last thing on your mind. I heard it’s fun, then how come my first game resulted into a chaos?

I’m Sarah, the only child of my parents, I’m still in my early twenties, twenty-one to be exact. I’m an introvert, I’m not actually the shy type but I love being alone. I still exhibit some extrovert traits thanks to my four friends that wouldn’t stop taking me out. We always hang out after classes, throw some jokes, help each other with assignments and eat together sometimes.

We were fond of ourselves, so we decided to celebrate Peter’s twenty-third birthday together, we invited no third party.

Disclaimer: This is my own version of what happened in room 25. It’s a contest I hosted, if you will like to join and reveal what actually happened, you can read about it here. It’s still open.

I’ve always seen Peter’s room as the biggest on earth, it is thrice my father’s sitting room. But, the room we rented in Aliko hotels proved me wrong, it’s as big as my father’s farm land.

There was only one bed in the room, eight people will sleep in it comfortably without any body contact. The floor has a transparent tile, you could see your image staring back at you each time you look down. The Plasma TV rhymed well with the wall. Only the lights coming out of the screen made me assumed there’s a TV there, even when the lights in the room were turned on, I still couldn’t see the television body. Everything I saw in room 25 made me look old school. Just when I thought my father’s house was the next best thing on earth.

I had my first dance with a guy that night. It’s actually not a dance, it’s something my friends called “rocking”. Ahmed’s mamba on my ass was soothing. I could tell how long it is. I must confess, it’s longer than Drake’s own, the guy that broke my hymen.

“Let’s start the game already, shall we?” Peter shouted.

He was losing his patience. I guess he had lots of questions to throw and Moses was delaying the show. Moses brought the idea, so he kept talking about the rules, making sure we adhere to it strictly. We all sat down on the floor forming a circle.

“So, this is the bottle we will be using, it will be rolled in our midst and when it stops rolling, any person the head faces will be our guest. The guest will roll it again and the next person it faces will ask the guest a question or dare him/her. Understood?” Moses asked again. I believe he repeated it again just to spite peter.

“If you can’t do what you are dared to do or answer the question, you will drink one full cup of Alomo bitters.”

“Yes.” We all chorused. None of us likes the drink, just one sip and the smell would make you run mad. So, taking a filled cup of it sounds impossible.

Moses rolled the bottle and I could feel my heart beat when the head faced me. I became the guest in the first round. The guest was meant to roll the bottle the second time, so I rolled. Moses was grinning like a mad man when it faced him.

“Truth or dare,” he asked.

There was no way I could tell him to dare me, so I chose the truth.

“Peter or Ahmed, who would you sleep with if it was compulsory?”

The question was awful and all I could remember at that moment was Ahmed’s mamba on my ass. I knew Peter was in love with me, he had asked me out several times. But, I never knew it was that serious. I closed my eyes, it was a difficult decision. Ahmed’s mamba kept appearing to me, Peter’s handsome face was staring at me too. I was seeing both even when I had both eyes closed. Then, I let out the words.

“Ahmed.”

The noisy room suddenly became silent, I believed they weren’t expecting the answer I gave, and I regretted saying the truth.

“O boy, Ahmed, it’s you the girl wants not Peter” Moses broke the silence with a mischievous grin.

My wicked stare made him take back his words and I could tell I saw tears on Peter’s face. He laughed afterwards but we all knew he forced it.

I rolled the bottle again and it faced Ahmed. He was very happy to be the guest and didn’t hesitate to roll the bottle, it faced Abigail who had been silent throughout the night. Her face brightened and she let out a loud laugh, she stared at Ahmed for some time before finally asking the game’s question.

“Dare,” Ahmed responded. And that was where the drama stated.

If Ahmed had chosen truth, our party would have lasted I guess.

“I dare you to kiss Sarah for 60 seconds.” Abigail remarked.

Ahmed didn’t even think twice before grabbing me. It was too fast, I couldn’t tell if I kissed back but I felt his lips on mine just for 6 seconds. He didn’t actually break the rules, but Peter’s punch sent him away. Sarah tried to interfere but she got a punch instead.

“This is absurd! You knew how much I love Sarah, yet you want Ahmed to kiss him right in front of me?” He was grabbing Abigail’s shirt this time around.

“Peter! Pete…..” I was cut short by the sound of a broken bottle.

Ahmed didn’t break the bottle just to scare Peter, he designed his face with it too. Peter was too strong for Ahmed so he fought back taking one piece of the broken bottle. The fight was getting bloody so I couldn’t help but cry.

Moses had been watching all along and at a moment, I wondered if he’s actually a man. He’s the oldest, I thought he was supposed to step in at instances like that. But, I realized he was scared to intrude. The guys were fighting with weapons, anybody that tries to separate them might get injured.

Sarah was still wallowing in pain, the punch she received from Peter still made her oblivious of what is going on. I noticed Moses was searching all over the room for something. Initially, I thought it was a weapon, then I realized the key to the room was nowhere to be found.

“Where’s the key, Abigail? You locked the door,” he shouted.

Peter and Ahmed were now fighting without weapons. Both guys were badly injured and with the way they threw their punches, I could tell how tired they were. Yet, they weren’t giving up. Just when I decided to separate them, the door was opened.

The hotel manager and two other guys separated them but it was too late. They’ve had severe injuries and a good hospital is what they needed.

I wish we never did that game, I wish I didn’t say the truth, I wish Ahmed didn’t choose “dare”. Just two rounds of a game destroyed our friendships. Now, I’m more introverted.

Today, I’m going to see Peter and Abigail. I need to bring back our friendship.
