I prefer Storj as it's based on Ethereum, but I am keen to hear your thoughts :-)

I have liked Storj but found the switch to Ethereum not to my personal liking but have no specific reason why, I just have not been sold on any benefits.
I like Sia for the very same reason, it's not based on ETH.
What is the benefit of not basing it on Ethereum?
What is the benefit of basing it on Ethereum? The way I see it ETH is setting itself for disaster with its goal of going 100% PoS, besides my understanding is that it's expensive to develop it.
