The substitute is called Probuphine. The original is an oral treatment that has to be administered daily. It could also be used for pain relief and opioid addiction but was addictive itself. Not only that but On top of that effectiveness varies from person to person. The new substitute is a sub dermal implant which can last for 6 months and is a controlled release which can be tailored to each persons tolerance, weight and takes plenty of other factors into consideration that makes the dose ideal for each patient. With the opioid crisis in the USA only increasing this new alternative treatment could help millions of patients overcome their addiction to these opiods.
