A lot has been said about & by President Donald J. Trump & his effect on the stock market. Google “Trump Bump,” & you’ll get more than 16.8 million results.
It’s true that stocks have performed remarkably through the first year of Trump’s presidency. The Dow Jones industrial average rose 25.1% in 2017, & the Standard & Poor’s 500 stock index gained 19.4%. Year to date returns for 2018 have been slightly less impressive but remain in the positive territory with the Dow & S&P 500 up 3.5% & 6.9%, as of August 9th.
