RE: Saturday Stickerchallenge - "Liberty or Death"
Interesting post Margaret - freedom is a topic I think everyone has an innate interest in, and yet it can be so hard to define it well, or to add anything new to the discussion.
Personally, I side with Mounier in saying that freedom is found among others, in a community. Not in the image of the 'Lone Ranger' - the individual, who places themselves before all others - which society sadly likes to hold up as the ideal of freedom.
Freedom from suffering, and from oppression, is worth more to me than the freedom to pursue individual happiness. Necessarily, that means freedom for everyone, equally. There can be no other way.
Thanks for such a thoughtful and well referenced article - you've given me plenty to think about!
You put it great. Thank you so much :)
