The impact of air pollution from the developmental project on the environment
Environment is all living and non living thing on the earth which includes human health and safety, flora, fauna, ecosystem and biodiversity, soil, water, air, climate and landscape, use of land, natural resources and raw materials, protected areas .
The air quality is how the air free polluted is and will be most affected during the construction phase with the emission of dust particles from machinery like tractors, electric grinders and equipment. For the construction phase, air quality will be mostly affected from big plant, logistic of workers and equipment. The impact receptors are likely to include site workers and people living around the site. The substance , which will most significantly contribute to air pollution, will be particulate matter(PM10). Particulate matter may cause health hazards when inhaled in significant amounts and can also reduce the visibility .Chemical pollutants principally hydrocarbon by-products from the site will only be the result of normal vehicle operation(CO and NO2). Traffic congestion and use of generating set contribute to air pollution by emitting hazardous pollutants.
Mitigating Measure
Ensure the protection and wellbeing of his employees by minimising their vulnerabilities to objects or dust generated by the machinery on-site. The contractor shall use an appropriate shift system and take care that his workers wear necessary protection like masks, safety glasses. Bag filters will be used to reduce PM10 concentrations while sulphur dioxide emissions may be reduced using diesel with low sulphur content . Adequate buffer zones should be allow between the site and existing built up areas. Some pollution may be however be unavoidable during the construction phase.
Air safety should be the concern of every human being.Safe air is a safe health.👍
