Chefchaoun : Wonderful Blue City

Very popular with tourists, this city in northwestern Morocco is known for its buildings painted in sumptuous blue variations. It is located 600 meters above sea level at the foot of the Kelaa and Meggou mountains, and its name "Chefchaouen" literally means "look at the horns", these incarnated by the two mountains.
It is said that in the 1930s, the city has experienced a large population of Jewish refugees. They are the ones who painted their houses in blue in a tradition reminiscent of God's heaven. If the Jewish population is today much less among the 40 000 inhabitants of the city, the current villagers have nevertheless perpetuated this memorable tradition and still decorate their houses of a magnificent blue ...
