Some more growing pains and some news with SteemVoter.com!

fb-steem24bb4.png

First of all, I want to apologize for a service interruption that occurred over the weekend. For some it was Friday to Monday, for others it was a small 16 hour window. Between a scrip error and a server going down without notifying me its been a though weekend for #steemvoter!

WARNING!!!

I have noticed an account that has given me their ACTIVE key!!!! DON'T DO THIS!!! I am not taking responsibility if my system gets hacked and you lose your steem. This is only one user, but still DON'T DO THIS

News:

  • I have decided what I will do to be compensated that I think is fair to everyone! More Below!
  • I need to figure out a way to prevent errors from voting multiple times too quickly.
  • The 40 vote per 24 hours limit seems good to me, comments?
  • Someone told me that voting right away on a post is worst than voting after a few min. I couldn't find anything that confirmed this. Is there a source?
  • I have decided how the future voting rules will work :)

Ho to be compensated!

I have chosen to use the one vote per day (more like every few days to start) on self promotion. This helps you by having people vote after you and promotes more of that and I benefit with my blog posts. I reserve the right to change my mind in the future.

I am still improving the scripts

Because I am still improving the script and making things better, there might be more service interruptions and other issues. I apologize ahead of time as these are standard growing pains, and some of this is new to me too. I can simply reassure you that my goal is to make things better and that you will all benefit from these pains.

Future rules!

The future does rule, with these new rules.... ok ok I will stop trying to be funny.

So, I have gotten a lot of feed back, and have put a lot of thought into these future rules.

First of all, the list of people you want to vote on everything they post, will add a voting power to use and a timing rule. Some people you want to give 100% vote, others, 10%. I learned this when @ned voted on my first blog post with only 20% power. So to get the bigger whales and dolphins, adding the ability to change the vote power is important. This means, the 40 vote per day maximum will go away.

The other voting strategy will be removed. If you don't list the author, you cannot vote on it with this site, unless...

I will also be adding a "Let SteemVoter.com control my voting" feature. Where I will put the best rules gleaned from all the research to get the best curation rewards. This will also be beneficial to the order you added your accounts. First ones vote first starting at the right time that we have researched.

This will also allow me to run my script more. I am looking at keeping it every 5 min. However, I had to slow it down to 10, but will move it back to 5 once these changes are done.

thats all for now.

Please keep commenting and letting me now how I am doing. This is to help everyone!

Also planning on adding a premium feature... Will tell you about it once these changes have been made.

Someone told me that voting right away on a post is worst than voting after a few min. I couldn't find anything that confirmed this. Is there a source?

Here's a great source explaining the 30 minute voting rules in detail: https://steemit.com/steem/@steemship/how-to-vote-smart-and-profit-from-steemit-s-new-curation-rewards

I'm not sure I agree with the 40 vote per day rule. Seems like it should be just up to the voting rules you have set. Some people may want to vote more often and just have a lower average voting power. Of course this is mitigated to a certain extent by controlling the percentage of voting power used, so it's a minor quibble. I just don't think any artificial restrictions should be placed on it, more flexibility is good so people can try different strategies. Maybe you could have a minimum voting power threshold, and turn off the voting if voting power falls below the threshold?

The other changes sound good.

Going to add a timer for the user list too. :) Thanks again.

I changed some of the new rules. I think this will improve things a lot. I removed the 40 vote max thing, I think you are right.

Awesome! Looking forward to seeing the next iteration of functionality. By the way, looks like it stopped working again. Haven't seen the bot making any votes today.

Looks like its cause you used your 40 votes, will be glad to remove that

Gotcha. I can see it's working fine now, thanks.

Thanks, Checking it out.

How can I tell if SteemVote is voting?

Someone told me that voting right away on a post is worst than voting after a few min. I couldn't find anything that confirmed this. Is there a source?

@dan briefly responds in this post regarding this :
https://steemit.com/steemit/@aaseb/voting-between-0-and-30-minutes

There is a linear split between 0 and 100% as time from post goes from 0 to 30 min. If you vote after 5 minutes then you only get 16% of curation reward, the rest goes to the author.

and there's a good explanation as in the post @cryptomancer mentions below. Thanks for doing this.

Thanks, I am already implementing the not voting right away thing. Also, right now there aren't any stats on what you have voted on. I am working on adding this and much more.

Cool bot you got here. So you have implemented the 30 minute delay or you're still working on it?
Stats are going to be great.

I am still working on it. The order of changes are:

  • The entire rules section will change.
  • Logs will have the curation rewards.
  • Stats on rule's profits. So you can customize each vote better and see your rewards based on your rules. Per account and per rule.
