Related to your subject line. I believe I read somewhere in another post that there were discussions about creating a mobile app linked to Steem and the STEM project, that is intended to become a preferred means of communications for researchers around the world. Did I get it right?

There are some projects in the works, much more, which I would be more than happy to tell you about, when it's all finished. Not that it is top secret but it's not nice to brag without achieving something first.
